Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Director General of the Vena\u0302ncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, Marcos Barrica, said, this Monday, in Luanda, that Angola is an essential partner in conflict resolution, at the level of the Southern African sub-region, due to its experience achieved throughout the period of civil war.<\/b><\/p>\n

Marcos Barrica explains that the thirty years of war and the 21 years of effective peace, which the country has recorded, declare an unavoidable experience in the field of negotiation and conflict resolution, at the level of the African Union (AU) and the African Development Community Austral (SADC).<\/p>\n

The Academic was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Global South Unit for Mediation course, a partnership between the Vena\u0302ncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy and the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Angola, together with other UN agencies, under the theme \u201c Conflict Transformation, International Mediation and Peacebuilding\u201d.<\/p>\n

The ambassador informed that one of the objectives of the training is to create personnel capable of replicating and multiplying the knowledge learned and intervening in places where they are requested and also strengthening Angola’s capacity in that task.<\/p>\n

He said that the training aimed at 40 MIREX staff, linked to the transformation and mediation of international conflicts, fits precisely with the objectives of the academy, which is to train and train professionals from the institution, but also from other ministerial departments in the country, especially institutions linked to international exchange and human rights.<\/p>\n

He said that the subjects being taught will be a theoretical and practical tool to be implemented by technicians, in order to place people in society capable of analyzing, managing, preventing and negotiating conflicts, whether in homes, within the family or in work relationships. .<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the political advisor of the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Angola, Andreia Arau\u0301jo, said that it is through the effort and knowledge of Angolans that the country moves towards the practice of mediation and conflict resolution, contributing to Angola becoming still a reference on the continent.<\/p>\n

During the training week, participants have the unique opportunity to bring together academic and theoretical knowledge with the practical experience of mediation, which will culminate in a reflection on Angola’s role in conflict resolution.<\/p>\n

To this end, he said that the broad opportunity associated with knowledge of Angola’s foreign policy, particularly on the African continent, or in multilateral organizations, will allow strengthening the capacity of diplomatic career officials and other public bodies, relevant in the country, to support with more varied tools the efforts of Angolans in conflict mediation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this, we will also transform the lives of people in countries that suffer even more from the harmful effects of conflicts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The training is scheduled to end on Friday with the holding of an international conference.<\/p>\n
