{"id":47349,"date":"2023-10-18T17:46:45","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T17:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=47349"},"modified":"2023-10-18T16:46:04","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T16:46:04","slug":"bailundo-kingdom-strengthens-ties-with-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/bailundo-kingdom-strengthens-ties-with-brazil","title":{"rendered":"Bailundo Kingdom strengthens ties with Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The king of Bailundo, Tchongolola Tchongonga, will travel, next Thursday (19), to the Federative Republic of Brazil, for a 27-day cultural exchange, as part of strengthening brotherhood and traditional ties between the two peoples.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>During the visit, at the invitation of the Casa de Angola Cultural Center in Sa\u0303o Paulo, the Sovereign of Bailundo will meet again with the &#8220;brothers by ancestral rights from Angola and the African continent&#8221;, as well as contribute to the studies of African culture, based on rites and rhythms rooted in Angolan society, which are somehow present in Brazilian society.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release sent this Monday, by the Bailundo Court, the trip to Brazil is part of the strengthening of cultural and traditional relations, through the African culture present in that country.<\/p>\n<p>The document states that the king of Bailundo, Tchongolola Tchongonga, accepted the invitation due to the fact that 60 percent of the slaves who were forced to leave Angola, especially Moc\u0327a\u0302medes (Namibe), Benguela and Luanda.<\/p>\n<p>He adds that Bailundo&#8217;s highest traditional authority will be received, in the city of Sa\u0303o Paulo, by the Angolan community, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The agenda includes a meeting with leaders of the black community, indigenous people, artists and African-based religions, as well as a meeting with the Secretary of Culture of the city of Sa\u0303o Paulo and traditional tourism businesspeople, within the framework of fundraising, cooperation and exchange necessary.<\/p>\n<p>The king of Bailundo will also speak to the first Angolan refugees from the provinces of Huambo and Benguela, who arrived in Brazil in 1975, in addition to being received at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sa\u0303o Paulo and being honored in the Casa da Memory.<\/p>\n<p>During his stay in the Federative Republic of Brazil, whose return is scheduled for November 15th, the king of Bailundo will launch his first bibliographical work entitled &#8220;The hegemony of the Ovimbundu in the kingdom of Mbalundu\u201d, which portrays the linguistic ethnicity of the kingdom in Angola<\/p>\n<p>History of the Kingdom of Bailundo<\/p>\n<p>With a court made up of 37 members, the Kingdom of Bailundo emerged during the reign of Ekuikui II, from 1876 to 1890. In (1885) the Portuguese colony was already represented in the kingdom with a captain-major.<\/p>\n<p>King Ekuikui II had the character of an excellent diplomat. He dared to avoid war and encouraged the practice of agriculture among the population, and, during During his reign, Bailundo did not face major wars.
