Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of the Environment, Waste Management and Community Services Office of Cunene, Eufra\u0301sia Wakussanga, highlighted Tuesday, in Ondjiva, the importance of regular hand washing with soap and water, to prevent diseases.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at World Handwashing Day, celebrated on October 15th, Eufra\u0301sia Wakussanga asked parents to demand more good hand hygiene practices from children.<\/p>\n

He explained that this exercise should be regular, after playing and before eating, as a way to prevent infections and promote health.<\/p>\n

\u201cHand hygiene is a necessary action and must be done correctly, to eliminate viruses and bacteria present everywhere”, he said.<\/p>\n

The person responsible also highlighted the importance of commemorating the date, as it encourages primary school students to wash their hands in particular, as they are the main victims.<\/p>\n

The director encouraged school managers to intensify these practices, so that children can cultivate this habit, as a way of safeguarding good health.<\/p>\n

The event, which brought together two thousand children, took place at the Centralidade Dom Fernando Guimara\u0303es Kevano primary school, in the Ekuma neighborhood, in the city of Ondjiva.<\/p>\n

This year’s motto is \u201ctogether we can accelerate action to improve hand hygiene and thus prevent infections and resistance to anti-microbials in healthcare\u201d.<\/p>\n

Each year, the Ministry of Education promotes awareness-raising activities in various school establishments.<\/p>\n

Since 2008, Angola has celebrated World Handwashing Day with soap and water. The date emerged as a means of combating infant mortality.<\/p>\n
