Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One thousand and 323 attempted violations of the border between Angola and the Republic of Namibia were thwarted during the third quarter by the Border Guard Police in the province of Cunene, with an increase of 224 compared to the previous period.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided this Tuesday, by the director of institutional communication and press of the National Police command in Cunene, chief superintendent Nicolau Tuvecalela, stating that of the infractions, 789 were entries and 584 exits, which resulted in the interpellation of 12 thousand and 999 rapists.<\/p>\n

He explained that of the rapists, 12,988 were nationals and 11 were foreigners, four of whom were Namibians, three from Democratic Congo, two Kenyans, one Nigerian and the other Ethiopian when they tried to cross the border line towards Namibia\/Angola and vice versa.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson explained that the Angolan rapists arrested, after operational interrogations, were released, while the foreigners were sent to the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME).<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, 1,298 violations were tax evasion and the remainder were due to smuggling of fuel, drinks, cigarettes and illegal entry into national territory.<\/p>\n

Nicolau Tuvecalela said that in their possession, several goods were seized for tax evasion, including five vehicles, three motorbikes, two pistols and four thousand 910 liters of fuel, among other household appliances, drinks and food.<\/p>\n

The records were prepared and sent to the General Tax Administration (AGT), in Santa-Clara, for legal proceedings.<\/p>\n

In the same period, 39 tax infractions were recorded, of which 55 were due to circulation smuggling, 13 foreign exchange transgressions and one import smuggling.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene shares 460 kilometers of border with the Republic of Namibia, 340 of which are land and 120 are river.<\/p>\n
