Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary of state for culture, Maria da Piedade, assured, this Monday, in Luanda, that the Cultural and Creative Industries (ICC) can constitute a positive branch to contribute to the diversification of the economy in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official made this statement when speaking at the seminar on the protection of intellectual property through the system of copyright and related rights in the culture and tourism sector.<\/p>\n

considered that the protection of intellectual property is a factor to be taken into account for a good business environment, in attracting external investment.<\/p>\n

Maria da Piedade said that the Ministerial Department of Culture and Tourism carries out actions aimed at promoting and enhancing historical and cultural heritage, as well as the development of cultural and creative industries.<\/p>\n

These activities that take place within the scope of cultural and creative industries, according to the person responsible, are generators of intellectual property, as they have their origins in individual creativity, skill and talent.<\/p>\n

“It is through the development and exploitation of this intellectual property that wealth is generated for families, companies and the state.”<\/p>\n

According to Maria da Piedade, intangible assets, based on creativity, ideas and values, are relatively at the center of disputes.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he stressed that the protection of intellectual property constitutes a stimulus to creative, innovative activities, an instrument at the service of cultural industries.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, society’s limited knowledge of intellectual property matters, as well as the lack of knowledge of the forms and mechanisms for managing and defending copyright, on the part of creators and entrepreneurs, are challenges yet to be overcome.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he said that the seminar comes in the current context in which the country exists a necessary framework and appropriate institutions for the protection and defense of intellectual property, both through the copyright and related rights system, and through the copyright law system. intellectual privacy.<\/p>\n

“This meeting will contribute to greater and better knowledge of the institutions and the means for protecting intellectual property and defending copyright, aiming to understand the guarantees of economic rights for the business opportunity that the operation can provide, explained Maria da Piedade .<\/p>\n

In terms of rights and related rights, he informed that since 2019, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been implementing, through the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights, (SENADIAC) effective financing of the national system for copyright and related rights, (SNDAC) in new ways and conditions, to protect the intellectual property of creators and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

In turn, the general director of the National Service for Author and Related Rights (SENADIAC) Barros Licenc\u0327a, reinforced that the purpose of the seminar was to provide knowledge with yet another action, within the scope of disseminating matters of intellectual property and institutions that contribute to the development of intellectual property protection.<\/p>\n

For the director, the challenges reflect when the mission involves the task of intellectual property to obtain subsidies from participants, exclusively agents from the sector of the ministries of culture and tourism and those responsible for bodies that are social partners of the ministry.<\/p>\n

The objective of the seminar was to learn about the facilities and means for protecting intellectual property and defending copyright, understanding the means of guaranteeing the enjoyment of the respective economic rights, awakening entrepreneurs to the business opportunity that this operation can provide, reflecting about the challenges that arise and proposed solutions.<\/p>\n
