In an event opened by the current president of the association, Toma\u0301s Faria, in the presence of family members, players and other personalities, the pictures and electronic panels portray the childhood, adolescence (1936-1954) of the former leader, in Lobito (Benguela), and actions later.<\/p>\n

In addition to the political and governmental functions of the honorary president of Petro, who died, due to illness, at the beginning of this month, in South Africa, at the age of 88, in the images, highlight his contribution to the successes and greatness of the Angolan sports collective , especially in football.<\/p>\n

Taking the floor, Toma\u0301s Faria expressed his feeling of gratitude to the figure of Hermi\u0301nio Esco\u0301rcio, whom he called \u201cPetro’s father\u201d, and the need to preserve his legacy, serving as an influence and inspiration to the various generations.<\/p>\n

An identical position was expressed by his son, Walter Esco\u0301rcio, making some considerations about his father’s actions in founding and achieving Petro’s objectives, corroborated by the former president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Armando Machado, who was also a former president. oil leader.<\/p>\n

In the same way, sports journalist Silva Candembo expressed himself, who had failed several times, announcing soon the launch of a biographical work about Hermi\u0301nio Escorcio and Petro de Luanda.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, a new alternative kit for the football team was also presented, for the next 2023\/24 sporting season, in shiny black, with gold symbols and letters, in tribute.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned outfits were displayed by former players Gaby Vieira Dias, Osvaldo Jesus, Amaral Aleixo, Job and Ze\u0301 Kalanga, who in addition to contributing to more than 10 national championship titles (Girabola) of the \u201cTricolores\u201d, also played for the National Team.<\/p>\n

Still on Hermi\u0301nio Esco\u0301rcio, the nationalist was director of the Cabinet of the first President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, between 1975 and 1979, having also held the position of ambassador of Angola in several countries, including Argentina, Germany, Austria, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

Born in Lobito, Benguela province, he graduated in Economic Studies, Administration and Public Relations. He carried out activities belonging to the MPLA in hiding and participated in the National Liberation process since 1958.<\/p>\n

He was a political prisoner, tried and convicted by a special military court under the imposition of the Portuguese Political Police (PIDE) from 1963 to 1974. He was part of the MPLA delegation that negotiated the truce with the Portuguese in the chanas of Liamege, in the province of Moxico.<\/p>\n

He coordinated the reception committee for the first MPLA delegation led by Lu\u0301cio Lara. He also served as personal secretary to President Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto-1974\/75.<\/p>\n

Among the various positions he held as a politician, he also included director of the Protocol of the Presidency of the Republic and general director of Sonangol.<\/p>\n
