Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, said this Wednesday, in Mindelo (Cape Verde), that the high threat to food systems represents one of the global concerns on the collective agenda and requires solutions innovative solutions to safeguard food production.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the first international congress, he said that innovative solutions must counter projections that reveal a greater lack of food production, in the order of 50 to 60 percent in 2050.<\/p>\n

He added that percentage estimates, 2020-2029, indicate global agricultural production growth of 85 percent, due to greater use of inputs, investments in production technology and better cultivation practices.<\/p>\n

The projections, he continued, also indicate an increase in direct emissions and, consequently, a high impact on emerging and less developed regions.<\/p>\n

Esperanc\u0327a da Costa highlighted that these data suggest the strengthening of science, innovation and, above all, the increase in literacy in different areas of life, with emphasis on the transformation of food systems, the digital, environmental and energy transition, to counter these trends .<\/p>\n

“Human capital is, along with the digital transition, the key to development. Therefore, it is urgent to cooperate, integrate and establish partnerships in terms of training and capacity building in the most different areas of the higher education subsystem”, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

He made it known that Angola has a Human Capital Development Plan 2022 -2035 (ACH 2022-2035), which will guarantee political and technical guidance in accordance with the country’s development priorities, including an effective adjustment of the training offer and adequacy of qualifications to the needs of the national labor market.<\/p>\n

According to Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, States must be aligned with international instruments, such as the 2030 Agenda for Development of the United Nations, 2063 of the African Union and 2050 of SADC, from a short, medium and long term perspective, taking into account training professional, increased quality and relevance of the educational and training offer, supported by the digitalization component.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the aim is, in this way, to increase the availability of qualified human resources in priority areas and according to the real needs of the labor market with the development of knowledge and skills necessary for the public and private sector.<\/p>\n

The Congress, between conferences and round tables, will address \u201cThe Paths to quality scientific research in Lusophony, promoting dialogue between universities, political power and companies\u201d, as well as \u201cScience, technology and innovation in Lusophone countries : challenges and opportunities in the 21st century\u201d.<\/p>\n

The event is aimed at researchers, academics, decision-makers, university students and postgraduates from all Portuguese-speaking countries, who work in their countries or in the diaspora.<\/p>\n

Angola, of the total of 150 researchers at the event, has an active participation of 46 lecturers from the most diverse areas of science and innovation, of which ten present the lectures in the face-to-face format.<\/p>\n
