Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The business director of Sonangol Distribuidora e Comercializac\u0327a\u0303o, Jose\u0301 Baltazar, stated this Thursday that, from now on, the city of Mbanza Kongo, capital of the province of Zaire, will no longer have problems supplying gasoline and diesel in its bombs.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the person in charge, who was speaking at the reopening of his company’s main service station in this city, Sonangol increased the storage capacity of the aforementioned pump from 75 to 100 thousand liters of fuel, after benefiting from rehabilitation works.<\/p>\n

He specified that the diesel supply capacity was increased from 25 to 50 thousand liters, while the previous gasoline capacity of 50 thousand liters was maintained. The number of hoses increased from six to 12 pistols.<\/p>\n

He justified the increase in conservation capacity due to the high volume of heavy vehicles that daily pass through the city of Mbanza Kongo to the Luvo border post with the DRC and the province of Cabinda and vice versa.<\/p>\n

He reported that pump employees were trained and instructed to preferably service vehicles and motorcycles, avoiding the sale of fuel in drums, in order to discourage smuggling.<\/p>\n

He appealed to users to take care of the said post, which benefited from rehabilitation and modernization works, which lasted five months.<\/p>\n

The work, according to the person in charge, also made it possible to modernize the convenience store and restaurant, as well as reactivating the air and water service and the butane gas sales station.<\/p>\n

It ensured the continued construction of more fuel stations throughout the national territory, aiming to meet growing demand.<\/p>\n

The Sonangol pump in Mbanza Kongo has been operating since 2008 and is located in the 11 de Novembro neighborhood. It generated 18 jobs for local youth.<\/p>\n

Governor wants to open more positions<\/p>\n

Present at the ceremony, the governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, called for the reinforcement of more Sonangol fuel stations in the region.<\/p>\n

He said that the reopening of the pump in Mbanza Kongo alleviated the inconvenience that rolling stock owners had been experiencing for months when purchasing fuel.<\/p>\n

He asked the population to continue reporting acts of fuel smuggling, stressing that public order bodies, by themselves, are incapable of doing so.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that, in addition to this Sonangol pump, the city of Mbanza Kongo has another one under the supervision of Pumangol. It also has dozens of service stations that operate in containers.<\/p>\n
