Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, laid the first stone for the construction of a new fish market in the municipality of Tombwa, which will give greater dignity to more than 50 vendors in this area.<\/b><\/p>\n

The establishment, which will be built within six months, will include a storage room, two bathrooms, a toilet, a brine area and a water reservoir, with pumping.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure, which is being built in an area of \u200b\u200b345.6 square meters, will have 12 concrete benches, covered with fiber cement sheet, green area and sports court.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the governor of Namibe, who is on a two-day working visit to the municipality of Tombwa, said that the fish market appears to be a work of capital importance, not only for the lives of the populations, but also above all, for those women fishmongers, who have long been clamoring for a more dignified and hygienic space to carry out their activity.<\/p>\n

“The market will guarantee comfort and safety for traders, as well as allowing fish to be sold in better hygiene conditions, for the good of consumers,” said the government official.<\/p>\n

In turn, the administrator of Tombwa, Abelardo Lemba, indicated that the market will also contribute positively to the formalization of the municipality’s economy.<\/p>\n

He made it known that fishing continues to be the activity that employs the most in the municipality, justifying that of the 24 companies installed, 15 are in full operation, with a total of 27 semi-industrial and industrial vessels.<\/p>\n

“Fully functioning fishing companies employ a total of 1,327 workers”, he added,<\/p>\n

In the last nine months, according to the administrator, a total of 8 thousand tons of various fish were produced, with emphasis on horse mackerel and sardines.<\/p>\n
