Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Fuel Society (SONANGOL, and the China Chemicals Engineering Company (CNCEC) signed, this Friday, in Lobito, contracts for the construction of the Refinery installed in that city in the province of Benguela.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SONANGOL, Gaspar Martins, who spoke during the ceremony, these are contracts for engineering, supply, construction, management, technical support services and supervision.<\/p>\n

The objective, according to the PCA, is to increase the capacity<\/p>\n

internal processing of crude oil to reduce national dependence on imports of refined oil.<\/p>\n

“This event is just a phase of the project implementation process, at the same time that its completion shows SONANGOL’s commitment to making the construction of this oil refining complex a reality”, he clarified.<\/p>\n

Gaspar Martins expressed the importance that the project has for SONANGOL, stating that it is a strategic priority, as it will improve the supply of fuel for the country and achieve self-sufficiency in refined products.<\/p>\n

“We guarantee that its execution and operation will respect commitments in environmental, social and governance terms, fundamental aspects for the sustainability of this Refinery”, stated the PCA.<\/p>\n

In turn, the President of CNCEC, Wen Gang, highlighted that his company is committed to honoring its commitments and is willing to always follow the concepts of integrity, innovation and mutual advantages, to comprehensively strengthen unity and transparency with Angolan partners.<\/p>\n

“CNCEC is an international leader in integrated solutions in the petrochemical industrial engineering sector”, guaranteed Wen Gang.<\/p>\n

The company has designed and built more than 70 chemical plants in more than 80 countries.<\/p>\n

For Wen Gang, the Lobito Refinery is extremely important in the development strategy of the entire petrochemical industry chain in Angola.<\/p>\n

The Lobito Refinery, also known as Sonaref, is located five kilometers north of the city and was designed to produce 200 thousand barrels per day.<\/p>\n

From 2012 to 2016, the land was prospected, from 2018 to 2021, the optimization of the project, from 2021 to 2022, updating of the FEED (basic engineering) and in 2023, the start of works.<\/p>\n
