Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, concluded a two-day visit to Kenya, highlighting the clear need to strengthen bilateral cooperation.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the visit, in response to an invitation from his Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, the parties welcomed this approach and agreed to maintain a more fruitful relationship, beyond politics and diplomacy.<\/p>\n

In this context, after meeting with the Kenyan statesman, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o witnessed the signing of eleven agreements in the fields of health, agriculture, tourism, information and communication technology, maritime transport, oil and gas.<\/p>\n

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Vena\u0302ncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya.<\/p>\n

Cooperation between the two countries will also be supported by the Memorandum of Understanding between the National School of Administration and Public Policy (ENAPP) and the Kenya Government School in the Field of Capacity Development in the Public Service.<\/p>\n

In practice, Angola wants to take advantage of the potential in the tourism and agricultural sectors, in order to promote the growth of these areas through the training of staff and experience.<\/p>\n

From Angola, Kenya wants “know how” in the exploration of oil and mineral resources, as this country has recently begun to experiment with the exploitation of these natural resources.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, said that Angola is open to transmitting its experience, accumulated over time, in order to develop the Kenyan oil industry.<\/p>\n

William Ruto said that in the tourism sector, Kenya is looking at how it can transfer its expertise through investment and capacity building.<\/p>\n

He said it was the intention to train Angolans in facilities linked to tourism in Kenya.<\/p>\n

At the moment, he recalled, there are five Angolan scholarship holders studying in one of the leading tourism schools in Kenya, the costs of which are fully borne by the Kenyan Government and this number is expected to increase.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and William Ruto highlighted the need to maintain peace, security and stability in the Great Lakes Region and the continent as a whole.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Head of State’s last stop was at the Mausoleum of Jomo Kenyatta, where he laid a wreath of flowers in his honor.<\/p>\n
