Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Republic of Namibia intends to benefit from the commercial services of the Angolan satellite ANGOSAT-2, in orbit, to assist or reinforce the operation of Namibian Public Television (NBC).<\/b><\/p>\n

The intention was expressed, this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the general director of NBC, Stanley Similo, during a meeting with the minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS), Ma\u0301rio Oliveira.<\/p>\n

Stanley Similo said that, in the first phase, existing services will be identified and how Namibia can take advantage of the Angolan satellite, launched into orbit on October 12, 2022, will be analyzed.<\/p>\n

Regarding this intention, Minister Ma\u0301rio Oliveira said that from the point of view of satellite services, the conditions are created, with a set of technical issues still to be taken care of on the ground.<\/p>\n

ANGOSAT-2 is a communications satellite located in orbital position 23E. In November 2022, in-orbit tests were successfully completed.<\/p>\n

In January 2023, the testing of telecommunications services was successfully completed, with emphasis on the provinces of Cabinda, Ui\u0301ge, Luanda, Cuando Cubango, Moxico, Huila and Lunda Sul.<\/p>\n

The commercial capacity is summarized in 6 transponders in the C band that cover all of Africa and part of southern Europe and 24 beams in the Ku band that covers the southern region and partially the center of the African continent.<\/p>\n
