Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred and 50 thousand coffee seedlings were delivered Monday, to 150 coffee farmers in the province of Ui\u0301ge, a bet that aims to promote the production of the product in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Delivered in an event presided over by the governor of Ui\u0301ge, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, the plants are part of the 553,780 seedlings (robusta, ambriz and amboim) that are being cultivated in the nursery at the INCA station in the region.<\/p>\n

At the event, the director of the Provincial Agriculture Office in Ui\u0301ge, Eduardo Gomes, informed that the province of Ui\u0301ge has other nurseries, a move aimed at recovering coffee production levels.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Eduardo Gomes recognized that INCA in the region is struggling with a lack of water for irrigation of nurseries, among other difficulties.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Provincial Governor of Ui\u0301ge, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting producers in the region, in order to recover coffee production levels in the region.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Jose\u0301 Carvalho da Rocha also urged young people to invest in coffee cultivation, to maintain the name and tradition of the province in the cultivation of this product.<\/p>\n

To this end, the governor called for greater organization of producers, an action that will make it easier for the government to resolve the concerns faced by coffee growers, from means of production and the marketing of coffee.<\/p>\n

The head of the Provincial Department of the National Coffee Institute in Ui\u0301ge, Miguel Camoxi, said that the delivery of these seedlings marks a new stage in promoting coffee production.<\/p>\n

For the next agricultural year, the more than nine thousand coffee farmers in the province of Ui\u0301ge expect to harvest 4,600 tons of coffee, a harvest that could exceed the 3,330 tons of the previous harvest.<\/p>\n
