Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Egyptian Parliament, Hanfy Elgbaly, this Sunday, in Luanda, invited his Angolan counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira, to make a working visit to Egypt, as part of strengthening relations between the two parliaments.<\/b><\/p>\n

Hanfy Elgbaly, who was speaking to the press at the end of an audience with the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, called for the need for the two parliaments to strengthen their relations.<\/p>\n

Hanfy Elgbaly, who is in Luanda to participate in the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP), said that he also discussed with his interlocutor aspects related to economic and political cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

He congratulated Angola on holding the event, hoping that the magnificent meeting will be crowned with success, stressing that the IPU General Assembly, among other issues, must deeply address the promotion of peace and democracy in the world.<\/p>\n

“There are many conflicts in the world, so it is important that we talk about peace and justice, because peace is an essential element in the world we live in”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIP) begins this Monday (23), in Luanda’s Marginal Bay, with the central motto “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions\u201d.<\/p>\n

Angola\/Egypt relations<\/p>\n

Political-diplomatic cooperation relations between both countries were formalized on March 26, 1987, through the signing, in Luanda, of the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.<\/p>\n

There is great interest on the part of Angola and Egypt in increasing cooperation in areas such as Economy, Commerce and Industry, Education, Higher Education and Technical-Vocational Training, Energy and Water, Banking and Finance, Agriculture and Fisheries.<\/p>\n

The two countries are also engaged in preparing the first session of the Bilateral Commission, which should evaluate cooperation and establish the process of implementing the legal instruments in force.<\/p>\n

The Bilateral Commission meeting will identify new areas of cooperation, taking into account the potential of Angola and Egypt.<\/p>\n

Egyptian companies were among the first to provide “important support” to the Angolan Executive’s Program to combat Covid-19, having supplied various biosafety equipment, hospital consumables and a value of two hundred (200) million kwanzas.<\/p>\n
