Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Executive wants to count on the help of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to enhance the production of agricultural statistical data in the country, said, this Tuesday, in Luanda, the Secretary of State for Agriculture Economy, Ivan dos Santos.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the usual briefing by the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP), the official highlighted that there is a need to improve the production of statistical data to attract external investors.<\/p>\n

Ivan dos Santos made it known that the approach to producing agricultural statistical data took place at the Investment Forum 2023 (Investment Forum 2023 – designation in English) held from 17 to 20 October 2023, in the Italian city of Rome.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meeting, with the FAO statistics center, is of great importance, since we also aim to enhance our agricultural statistics, as it is through this that we will be able to map our national production capacity , for agribusiness, as well as calibrating and bringing statistical data from agriculture, more refined and coherent\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He reinforced that this will allow the publication of statistical data on other platforms, such as the FAO platform and guarantee greater appetite for those who want to invest in Angola. \u201cWe are talking about foreign direct investment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The official says that the Angolan delegation presented the current panorama, with macroeconomic indicators, main programs for achieving self-sufficiency and food security, mapping the great potential of agribusiness in Angola.<\/p>\n

He also presented the Planagra\u0303o and Planapecua\u0301ria, Planapesca development plans, the new PRODESI approach and the measures approved to boost the economy, with a focus on exempting tourist visas, a measure to boost the economy.<\/p>\n

Ivan dos Santos added that the Rural Investe Program was also discussed with the FAO investment center, which has the main objective of bringing better investment techniques and training those who want to invest and those who will finance.<\/p>\n

The representative of the African Development Bank (ADB) in Angola, Pietro Toigo, considered it important that the Angolan delegation was made up of a senior multisectoral team, where the ministries of Industry, Agriculture, Fisheries and Economy were represented.<\/p>\n

He justified that the process of agricultural reform and transformation in Angola, to be implemented, is a very complex process, which will require a high level of institutional coordination.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed, the Angolan delegation, when integrated, sent a very strong message in terms of the Government’s coordination capacity to manage this very complex agenda\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

According to the official, despite the progress made in the agricultural sector, Angola must make an effort to be on the global investment map as an agricultural country, as the world continues to be seen as an oil country.<\/p>\n

The Investment Forum 2023 took place from October 17th to 20th, 2023, in the Italian city of Rome.<\/p>\n

31 carefully selected countries and agribusiness investors participated.<\/p>\n

The approval of Angola’s inclusion in the list of participants resulted from the work that the country has developed around the search for sustainable food security.<\/p>\n

The center of this collaboration is the Hand in Hand initiative, which embodies the idea of \u200b\u200beveryone working hand in hand, emphasizing the importance of cooperation that must exist between governments, organizations and local communities.<\/p>\n
