Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A new system for capturing, treating and supplying drinking water to the city of Ndalatando (capital of Cuanza Norte), will be inaugurated in December of the current year, aiming to reinforce and improve supply to the population.<\/b><\/p>\n

The new system, starting from the Lussue river, eight kilometers from Ndalatando, is budgeted at three billion, 246 million, 875 thousand kwanzas and will benefit more than 28 thousand families, in the Mesquita, Vieta, Sassa, Camundai, Tiros aos neighborhoods. Dishes, Kilembequeta and others.<\/p>\n

Speaking this Friday, construction inspector Agostinho Gonc\u0327alves informed that a reservoir was built at the catchment site, with a pumping system of 200 cubic meters\/hour.<\/p>\n

It will also be supported by a 250 mm diameter pipe extension, covering a distance of seven kilometers and seven hundred meters and will accommodate four giraffes to supply tanker trucks and other vehicles.<\/p>\n

The person responsible assured that the work, whose physical execution is in the order of 97 percent and 24 percent financial, is in the finishing phase.<\/p>\n

The water supply to the city of Ndalatando was reinforced in 2020, with the collection system installed in Morro da Santa Isabel, on the outskirts of this city.<\/p>\n

The system includes a reservoir with a capacity of 400 cubic meters, for the reuse of the remainder of the Santa Isabel fountain, and two giraffes for tanker trucks.<\/p>\n

This allowed the reinforcement of supply to around 10 thousand inhabitants of the Miradouro, Catome de Cima e Baixo, Sa\u0303o Filipe, Sassa and Quem me Ama neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

These infrastructures join two others installed on the Monte Redondo (inoperative) and Mucari rivers, equipped with a 500 cubic meter reservoir and has more than a thousand household connections in the urban center and more than 100 fountains on the outskirts of the city, mostly inoperative due to poor capacity.<\/p>\n

Data from the Cuanza Norte Water and Sanitation Company (EASCN), indicate that Ndalatando’s current water supply system is entirely gravity-based with a production of 47 liters per second and a supply capacity of two to three hours per day.<\/p>\n
