Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Luanda Biennale will contribute to the implementation of UNESCO’s Operational strategy and its programs defined as priorities for Africa (2022-2029), namely the promotion of cultural heritage and the strengthening of higher education and the continent’s capabilities, he said , on Friday, the Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia, Miguel Ce\u0301sar Domingos Bembe.<\/b><\/p>\n

He is also the Permanent Representative of Angola to the African Union (AU) and UNECA, who spoke at the colloquium called \u201cCultural and Creative Industries and the Restitution of African Cultural Heritage\u201d, under the aegis of UNESCO, AU and the International Organization of Francophonie, emphasized that one of the results, in the medium and long term, is the creation of an inclusive vision of African history and heritage.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned forum will take place from the 22nd to the 24th of November under the motto \u201ceducation, culture of peace and African citizenship as tools for the sustainable development of the continent\u201d.<\/p>\n

In another area, the French ambassador to this capital, Re\u0301mi Mare\u0301chaux, who also participated in the colloquium, praised Angola’s gesture in donating to his country two works of art (sculptures) that belonged to the Palace of Versailles.<\/p>\n

Formally delivered on February 4, 2022 by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, the sculptures were located in the gardens of the Angolan Embassy in Paris since 1979.<\/p>\n

The two works of art, a sculptural set called \u201cZe\u0301phyr, Flore et l’Amour\u201d and the sculpture \u201cl’Abondance\u201d, sought after for almost two centuries, were commissioned by Kings Louis XIV and Louis XV to decorate the castle gardens, forming part of the heritage of Versailles that was dispersed during the French revolution.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Angolan ruler declared that works of high heritage relevance return to their place of origin. \u201cEach people has its indisputable right to enjoy its own heritage, since the identity of a people is its greatest guarantor of sovereignty”, said Filipe Zau at the time.<\/p>\n

Remember that the 3rd edition of the Luanda Biennial will feature lectures, conferences and debates, as well as parallel events aimed at the private sector and academia.<\/p>\n

The event, a joint promotion between Angola, the AU and UNESCO, aims to contribute to the construction and realization of an integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa, in which its children take an assertive and supportive position in the economic and social transformation of the continent.<\/p>\n

The 3rd edition will have the participation of more than 600 entities.<\/p>\n
