Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Ja\u0302nio Victor, announced, in Lubango, for the five-year period 2023\/2027, to make the southern region of the country an important Industrial Center of Excellence, to better value the quantity and quality of available mineral resources .<\/b><\/p>\n

Ja\u0302nio Victor, who spoke at the closing of the Workshop on Ornamental Rocks in Angola, despite recognizing the shortcomings in the subsector, highlighted that \u201cthe path is irreversible and nothing or no one will stop this region, called the ornamental rocks triangle (Hui\u0301la, Cunene and Namibe) can achieve this title\u201d.<\/p>\n

To achieve this goal, he continued, it is necessary to work hard on the insufficiencies found between the Government and the private sector, due to the fact that the ornamental stone industry is an invaluable source of wealth and opportunities for the country, as it creates jobs and promotes innovation in civil construction.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the ornamental rocks subsector is one of the most important in its multiple rows of mineral resources and that over time we will eliminate existing constraints, through continuous intersectoral work.<\/p>\n

\u201cInternally, the Ministry and its supervised bodies will continue to work to improve their procedures and standards that seek balance in defending the interests of the State, seeking to improve competitiveness in the ornamental stones subsector\u201d, he expressed.<\/p>\n

Without providing numbers, he admitted that at the moment the volume of ornamental stone business is incipient and does not yet satisfy operators, most of whom are new to the sector.<\/p>\n

The Workshop and Exhibition on Ornamental Rocks of Angola (ROA-2023) took place under the motto \u201cAngola towards excellence in ornamental rocks\u201d, organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (MIREMPT) in partnership with Bumbar Mining.<\/p>\n

The event discussed five panels, namely Institutional, social responsibility and governance, strategies for valuing mobility and logistics infrastructures, as well as the business and investment environments for the sector in question.<\/p>\n
