Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of Angola and the European Union (EU) will hold on November 17th, in Luanda, the 2nd edition of the Business Forum to explore business opportunities and strengthen economic partnerships between the parties.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the national director for International Economic Integration, Jero\u0301nimo Pongolola, in the usual briefing by the Ministry of Economy.<\/p>\n

The official made it known that the activity is part of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative and serves as a platform to strengthen mutual commitment, as well as promote engagement and the spirit of partnerships, with a focus on strategic sectors such as agriculture, digitalization, energy, infrastructure, fisheries and transport.<\/p>\n

The forum, he said, will also offer Angolan and European companies connection and discussions of potential areas of action, cooperation and investment opportunities.<\/p>\n

According to the director, sustainability issues will also be addressed, with the Sustainable Investment Facilitation agreement being signed, becoming the first country to establish a commitment of its kind with the European bloc, which reinforces commercial practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Government intends, with the agreement, to stimulate the attraction, expansion and retention of foreign direct investment, for the purpose of economic diversification and sustainable development\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

For his part, the European Union’s charge d’affaires, Paulo Barroso, said that the forum will allow us to continue highlighting opportunities and advantages that Angola offers as a strategic destination for foreign investment.<\/p>\n

He made it known that he also aims to give visibility to the investments of the Global Strategy of the institution he represents, promoting interaction between the Angolan and European private sectors, specializing the involvement of public and private sectors, as well as facilitating investment and stimulating dialogue on measures and reforms that drive economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgola\u2019s interest in attracting European investment is significant and, as its main trading partner, the European Union will support Angola\u201d, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

Paulo Barroso stated that the European Union is one of the main investment trading partners in Angola and is committed to supporting diversification initiatives.<\/p>\n

The forum is open to companies, financial institutions, investment agencies and interested parties. So far, 450 companies have registered, of which 275 are Angolan and 175 European.<\/p>\n

The edition of the Angola\/EU Business Forum took place in Brussels (Belgium), in March 2022.<\/p>\n
