Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Nhara Fernandes and Yusseni Furtado stand out in the junior women’s National Team, aiming for the African Pure and Open Water Swimming Championships, from the 6th to the 10th of December, in Mauritius.<\/b><\/p>\n

Sprinter Nhara, who now works in Portugal, will make her second appearance in the African category, after her debut in November 2021, in Accra (Ghana).<\/p>\n

In that event, the athlete trained at the Clube Na\u0301utico da Ilha de Luanda contributed to the bronze medal in the 4×100 meters style event, with a time of 04:40.76.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old swimmer has proven to be one of the main references in the category, as a result of her elasticity in fast events, with emphasis on the 50m breaststroke and freestyle, where she recorded the junior and absolute records (20.12 and 27.68), both belonging to Catarina Sousa.<\/p>\n

Currently in second place in the national ranking, with 631 points from \u201cWorld Aquatics\u201d, the swimmer is also identified as one of the candidates for the only female spot for the 2024 Olympic Games, in Paris (France).<\/p>\n

In turn, Yusseni Furtado, already in his last season at junior level, is the oldest in the group (18 years old). He has a presence in the continental competition, after being part of the team that evolved in 2019, in Tunisia.<\/p>\n

This edition also marks the debut of swimmer Carlota Silva in competitions on the continent, after having participated in this year’s World Championship, held in Israel.<\/p>\n

The squad also includes: Jose\u0301 Cochofel, Janel Tati, David Padre, Enzo Anjos, Yano Elias, Mirian Morais, Stephanie Jurado and Rhanya Santo, all with international experience.<\/p>\n

Angola played the last edition in 2021 in Accra, Ghana, after presences in 2019 (Tunisia) and 2017 (Egypt).<\/p>\n
