Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Local Development Institute (FAS) in Cuanza-Sul launched, in the commune of Cariango, in the municipality of Quibala, the process of registering new households, as part of the implementation of the Kwenda Project.<\/b><\/p>\n

The provincial director of FAS, Carolina Sanito, said, on Monday, that, in the first phase, it is planned to register more than 18 thousand vulnerable families in the Quibala region, who will benefit from monetary transfers worth 66 thousand kwanzas, every six months for two years.<\/p>\n

Carolina Sanito announced that the Kwenda Project reached seven of the 12 municipalities that make up the province of Cuanza-Sul, adding that the new registration corresponds to the second phase, which covers the municipalities of Quibala, Mussende and Conda.<\/p>\n

“Having completed the first phase, we are now working on the second phase, which started in Quibala, and will extend to the municipalities of Mussende and Conda”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

Carolina Sanito reported that the implementation of the project in Cuanza-Sul began in 2020, and of the seven municipalities covered by Kwenda, more than 117 thousand households were registered, of which more than 100 thousand already benefit from monetary transfers.<\/p>\n

The head of FAS explained that the extension of the program to three more municipalities stems from an orientation towards the expansion of Kwenda at the provincial level, and the choice fell on the localities of Quibala, Mussende and Conda, due to the degree of vulnerability observed during the identification process.<\/p>\n

Renewed hope for better days for the populations<\/p>\n

The municipal administrator of Quibala, Joa\u0303o Daniel Nunes, recognized that the implementation of Kwenda in his locality will reduce the difficulties faced by families, especially those in rural areas.<\/p>\n

“At the municipal level, we have a population of 173,858 inhabitants, the majority of whom are vulnerable and live in rural areas. Kwenda came to improve the standard of living of the populations who are clamoring for and receive the project with great enthusiasm in our locality”, he said.<\/p>\n

The commune of Cariango, located in the municipality of Quibala, was the stage for the launch of the extension of the Kwenda project, to three more municipalities in the province of Cuanza-Sul, with the registration process for future households, an act that renews hope for better days to the residents of that locality.<\/p>\n

Anto\u0301nio Agostinho is one of the future beneficiaries of the monetary transfers and said that the money will be of great help to the family in purchasing school materials for their children and contributions to cultivate the land.<\/p>\n

With the money, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho also intends to buy another farm and rent a tractor to help prepare the land for cultivation.<\/p>\n

Satisfied with the implementation of the program in his locality, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho thanked the Executive for the initiative and called for the creation of more projects like Kwenda, which provide great help to vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

Julieta Andre\u0301, another beneficiary, said that the amount will be used to buy food for the family, invest in the countryside and save money to protect against illness.<\/p>\n

Andre\u0301 Tchipilica has plans to renovate the house, with Kwenda’s money, as it is a dream he has had for some time, which is why he is eagerly awaiting the day he receives the amount. The money, he said, will help reduce the numerous difficulties the family faces.<\/p>\n

Another plan by Andre\u0301 Tchipilica is to buy a motorbike to help travel to the mine.<\/p>\n
