Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angolan artists Kim Praise and Resem Verkron are among the 30 best creators of Keep Walking Africa 2023, in the Art category, this Wednesday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Keep Walking Africa selects a group of new generation African creators and visionaries who courageously drive culture forward through music, cinema, media, fashion and art.<\/p>\n

The initiative by Johnnie Walker and the TRACE channel follows months of rigorous research with top talent managers and industry leaders across the continent to identify a definitive list of Pan-African cultural change-makers.<\/p>\n

It brings together other creators from the African market, such as Sweeney (Kenya), Haneefah Adam (Nigeria), Oronce Hounkponou (Benin), among others from Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan South, Tanzania and Zambia.<\/p>\n

Kim Praise, pseudonym of Joaquim Chongolola Catito, is a talented photographer and filmmaker born in the province of Benguela, Angola.<\/p>\n

Artistically, Praise analyzes the innocence of Angolan youth, in the context of their difficult socio-economic circumstances, as well as Angolan women, whom she calls “the pillars of our nation”, alongside photographs that capture the natural beauty of Angola.<\/p>\n

Also in the Art category, Resem Verkron is a union of four multidisciplinary artists based in Luanda, who explore Afro-surrealist and Afro-futurist thought, through impactful art such as graffiti, neo-muralism, photography, video and installation.<\/p>\n

The Keep Walking Africa Top 30 comes at a time when trends in the creative economy in Africa are extremely positive.<\/p>\n

UNESCO reports indicate that the still largely untapped African film industry could quadruple revenues to $20 billion and create more than 20 million jobs, while digital music streaming revenues are expected to Africa reach 500 million dollars by 2025.<\/p>\n
