{"id":48772,"date":"2023-11-04T20:19:46","date_gmt":"2023-11-04T20:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=48772"},"modified":"2023-11-04T16:29:08","modified_gmt":"2023-11-04T16:29:08","slug":"cba-against-adoption-of-homosexuality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/cba-against-adoption-of-homosexuality","title":{"rendered":"CBA against adoption of homosexuality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Participants in the 1st National Congress of Theological Education of the Baptist Convention of Angola (CBA) appealed, on Friday, in Huambo, to Angolan society not to adopt homosexuality and acts of corruption.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The appeal is expressed in the final communique\u0301 of the event, which opened on Thursday, under the motto \u201cThe role of the Angolan church in the context of contemporary theologies\u201d, with the participation of 250 members of the CBA and representatives of all evangelical churches in the country, from Pentecostals, Methodists and Adventists.<\/p>\n<p>According to religious people, after in-depth analysis and discussion, the church and society, in general, need to say no to the practices and ideologies of homosexuality, corrupting actions and the commodification of faith and the gospel.<\/p>\n<p>They state that corruption must be fought by the Angolan church, so that it can influence the fight outside of it, promoting, from this fear, necessary healthy growth.<\/p>\n<p>They hope that theology is seen from a practical perspective and not just a discursive one, so that the real role of the church is felt in all places and circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>They recommended the need for all theological acts to always be aligned with the current context of society, so as not to violate the principles of the Christian faith.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, they urged the maintenance of an attitude of conformity with the Angolan legal system, in order to avoid the proliferation of religious sects in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The 1st National Congress of Theological Education of the CBA aimed to rescue and empower Baptist churches in Angola to resume their role in society, denouncing evil and calling for social, cultural and economic justice.<\/p>\n<p>Participants addressed topics such as \u201cEcclesiastical law: a challenge for the church in the context of its mission\u201d, \u201cThe role of the church as an instrument of moral and ethical influence\u201d and \u201cDepression among workers: causes, consequences and prevention\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Topics include \u201cTheological alignment for the Angolan social and anthropological context\u201d, \u201cThe great challenges of the Angolan church in the context of many theologies\u201d and \u201cPublic theology: a danger or a challenge for new Christian experiences?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Baptist Convention of Angola, created on June 25, 1940, began its missionary work in 1927, in the town of Apuli, commune of Calima, 13 kilometers from the city of Huambo, by the Portuguese missionary Manuel Ferreira Pedra, having been continued by the his compatriot Anto\u0301nio Tiago de Sousa Pereira.<\/p>\n<p>Recognized by the Angolan Government in 1987, the CBA is present throughout the national territory, concentrating 379 churches, with a total estimated at at least 37 thousand 500 members, according to the census of the religious organization, released this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
