Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Twenty-one (21) private education institutions were fined six million 653 thousand kwanzas by the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT), for failure to pay wages, register workers in the social security system and other irregularities.<\/b><\/p>\n

These are higher education establishments and the I and II cycles, covered in the 34 inspection visits carried out by the IGT, during which 261 labor infractions were found.<\/p>\n

The information was given by the head of IGT Provincial Services, Leandro Cardoso, according to whom some schools offer wages of 7 to 13 thousand kwanzas, values \u200b\u200bbelow the national minimum wage, as well as not granting vacations to workers.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, the fined schools were instructed to comply with the workers’ social security registration and to refund the amounts corresponding to the minimum salary for public service, within a period of 30 days, under penalty of judicial liability.<\/p>\n

Leandro Cardoso explained that the situation covers 1,378 workers, whose retirement will be conditional and they will not be able to take advantage of their respective old-age pensions and other benefits.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out the lack of an insurance policy against the risks of work accidents and occupational diseases as another irregularity observed in the institutions visited.<\/p>\n

During the visits, the AGT also found violations of tax legislation, with emphasis on non-compliance with the payment of taxes to the State by 20 of the 34 institutions visited, to which the corresponding violation notices and notifications were issued.<\/p>\n
