Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute (IRDP) called for more active participation by Bie\u0301’s private sector in the construction and reactivation of fuel pumps, aiming to satisfy demand.<\/b><\/p>\n

The request was made by the head of the IRDP’s Commercial Relations and Tariffs Department, Nelson Duarte de Carvalho, during the seminar to encourage the construction of new private initiative stations and the rehabilitation of out-of-service stations, which takes place in the city of Cuito, bienna capital.<\/p>\n

According to Nelson Duarte de Carvalho, the province of Bie\u0301 has an installed capacity of 700 cubic meters of fuel, which does not satisfy the population in practice, which is why the IRDP is promoting this seminar in order to encourage the business class to build new posts and reopen the 12 inoperative ones.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he highlighted that the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute wants the private sector to invest in fuel storage, butane gas and petroleum derivatives factories, among other areas, with a view to making Bie\u0301 a reference in these services.<\/p>\n

To this end, according to him, operators such as Sonangol, Galp, Pumangol and Total, which supply derivatives to private stations in two years, are interested in establishing new partnerships to leverage the local private sector, maximizing more jobs and beyond.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the director of the Integrated Economic Development Office of the Government of the Province of Bie\u0301, Figueiredo Canguende Numbi, said that this region has 28 gas stations.<\/p>\n

Without quantifying, he said that new pumps were needed in communes with greater population density and diamond-bearing areas.<\/p>\n

Figueiredo Canguende Numbi also added that it is essential to install a gas station in the municipality of Cuemba, 164 kilometers east of the city of Cuito, as it is the only municipality without any fuel pump.<\/p>\n

In turn, Sonangol’s Center and South regional director, Maria do Carmo, assured that, next year, this concessionaire will complete the fuel pumps in the municipality of Chinguar, 75 kilometers west of Cuito, a project that will has been unfinished for many years.<\/p>\n

Maria do Carmo also added that the operator’s intention, in addition to improving the image of all the pumps it controls in Bie\u0301, is to build another one in Cuemba, where the licensing phase is already underway, so that the local population stops buying these derivatives in Camacupa and Cuito.<\/p>\n

Local businesspeople, who attended the seminar, such as Jose\u0301 Chingui, Jose\u0301 Wanga and Noe\u0301 Cassanje, expressed concerns linked to the lack of support from banks, timely delivery of products by operators in the interior of the province, among other constraints, that will deserve solutions, if partnerships are signed with operators.<\/p>\n

The existing fuel pumps in Bie\u0301 are located in Cuito (14), Andulo (5), Chitembo (2), Chinguar (2), Catabola (2), Cunhinga (1), Camacupa (1) and Nha\u0302rea (1).<\/p>\n
