Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>From January to the present date, two thousand and 700 citizens filed complaints with the Ombudsman’s Office, after seeing their rights violated.<\/b><\/p>\n

These numbers could reach three thousand by the end of the year, according to the Ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Arau\u0301jo, this Tuesday, in Cuito, Bie\u0301 province, who is carrying out a three-day working visit to this central\/southern region of the country.<\/p>\n

In 2022, this institution received more than four thousand complaints.<\/p>\n

According to the person responsible, the complaints are characterized by the slowness of court proceedings, land conflicts, abuse of authority, excessive preventive detention, survivors’ pensions and old debts owed by the State to businesspeople.<\/p>\n

Florbela Rocha Arau\u0301jo, who gave a lecture on the mandate and function of the ombudsman and the duty of cooperation with the central and local public administration bodies of the State, said that, in these cases, the institution forwards the processes to certain sectors, in order to request clarification or even persuade in its resolution.<\/p>\n

Also the ombudsman visited the Cuito penitentiary services and the nursing home, also in the capital of Bienna.<\/p>\n

For Wednesday, meetings are scheduled with the presiding judge of the district of Cuito and the attorney general of the titular republic in the province of Bie\u0301.<\/p>\n

From next year onwards, the province of Bie\u0301 will be able to count on the Ombudsman’s Office, as will Cuanza-Norte, Hui\u0301la, Lunda-Sul and Ui\u0301ge. In addition to Luanda, it already operates in Lunda-Norte, Namibe, Cuando-Cubango, Malanje and Benguela.<\/p>\n
