Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The contribution of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in maintaining peace and security in the southern region of Africa was praised, this Tuesday, in Dakar, during a meeting between the Angolan ambassador to Senegal, Ada\u0303o Pinto, and the his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Christophe Muzungu. <\/b><\/p>\n

At the meeting, in the Senegalese capital, the Congolese diplomat praised the efforts of the Angolan Head of State for his commitment and commitment to achieving peace in eastern DRC.<\/p>\n

Diplomat Christophe Muzungu positively signaled Angola’s investments in the Lobito Corridor, which covers the mining areas of the DRC and Zambia, describing it as a source of development, taking into account the brutal impact of the railway infrastructures that are being developed .<\/p>\n

According to a note from the embassy, \u200b\u200bduring the meeting the parties discussed aspects of common interest in the field of diplomacy, namely in the recognition of the good bilateral relations existing between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The Extraordinary SADC Summit on the security situation in Eastern DRC, which took place in the Angolan capital, Luanda, last Saturday, with the presence of the region’s Heads of State, as well as the upcoming presidential elections next December in that country, also merited relevance in the range of subjects covered.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Ambassador Ada\u0303o Pinto reinforced the strategic importance of Angola and the DRC in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation, highlighting the existing brotherhood and the strategic capital of the values \u200b\u200bof unity in the current global context.<\/p>\n

Bilateral cooperation between Angola and the DRC, countries that share a vast land, sea and river border, has its legal framework based on the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation, signed in 1978.<\/p>\n

Currently, the two States cooperate in several sectors, notably trade and industry, energy and water, transport, defense and security, among others.<\/p>\n
