Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Traditional power authorities in the province of Cunene defended, this Wednesday, the strengthening of unity and the safeguarding of national sovereignty, in order to meet the aspirations of the struggle for National Independence, achieved on November 11, 1975.<\/b><\/p>\n

Regarding the 48th anniversary of national independence, the sovereigns highlighted the need for Angolans to know how to honor the efforts made for freedom, reinforcing the spirit of love for the country and collective unity.<\/p>\n

For the King of Ombala of Owkwanhama, Jero\u0301nimo Heleinge, November 11, 1975 represented one of the greatest days in the history of the Angolan people, as it was at this time that Angola freed itself from 500 years of colonial rule.<\/p>\n

The sovereign recognized that independence was not achieved on a platter, but thanks to the dedication of the children of this country who at the right time spared no effort and knew how to honor the land that saw them born and in favor of freedom.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the courage of these heroes allowed the path to be opened for the consolidation of unity among Angolans, hence the need to continue defending the preservation of peace, unity, national reconciliation and territorial integrity for the common good.<\/p>\n

He added that the legacy of President Agostinho Neto \u201cfrom Cabinda to Cunene, one people, one nation\u201d, will only materialize when Angolans, particularly young people, engage in the work at their disposal and contribute to the country’s progress.<\/p>\n

He recognized that over the 48 years of freedom, there has been significant progress in terms of infrastructure, educational institutions from primary to university education, health units and staff training.<\/p>\n

For his part, the King of Ombala ya Nalueque, Ma\u0301rio Satipamba, said it was essential that priority continued to be given to preserving unity, national cohesion, peace and stability.<\/p>\n

Ma\u0301rio Satipamba said that Angola is a single and indivisible country, although there are still some voices that try to hinder this goal, the fundamental thing is to guide the new generation to look at the present to better build the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proclamation of independence is talking about untying the ropes of colonialism. These are 48 years of freedom. It is always a pleasure to think about the development and progress that the country has been achieving\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that regardless of the moments that followed, the date constituted an indelible mark of the Angolan revolution, as from that moment on, Angolans led their own destiny.<\/p>\n

The independence of Angola was proclaimed on November 11, 1975 by the first President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, in Largo 1\u00b0 de Maio, in Luanda.<\/p>\n
