Mr President, being the first to open this moment is also a source of satisfaction for me, as we have witnessed the inauguration of this airport today, images of which are already circulating around the world. My point is that time has demonstrated that one of the biggest problems that the country needs to overcome is the management of public assets. And this also matches what the President started in 2017: the fight against corruption and impunity. Given the efforts that were made to have this airport – which from our perspective owes nothing to those we have seen around the world where we travel -, how is the system prepared so that the Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto Airport is no longer a source of the misuse of public funds, taking into account all the investment that was made here and what time has demonstrated: the weakness of our public management?! Thanks!<\/p>\n

PR: Thank you very much! It is precisely for the reasons you just mentioned that we understand that this large infrastructure should not be managed by the State. It was announced, during this inauguration ceremony, that, immediately, a provisional, transitional airport operator was appointed to manage the Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto International Airport. And we think that we are going to do everything, we are going to work, to make this transition as short as possible.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Transport announced the opening of a public tender for the definitive private operator, obviously within a few months – I hope -, he will then take over the definitive management of this important infrastructure. From that point onwards, the State’s expenditure on this infrastructure will reduce considerably and there will even come a time when this operator, who will manage the airport, will have to share the revenue that the infrastructure will generate with the owner of the airport. infrastructure that will continue to be the State.<\/p>\n

Therefore, this airport will continue to belong to the State, but managed by a competent private entity that will transform this airport into a source of revenue. This airport was not built to represent more expenses. On the contrary, it is to generate revenue for those who manage it and revenue for the State.<\/p>\n

Good afternoon, Mr President! We arrived here with the inauguration of this Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto International Airport. I would like to ask you, for the future, what is in store for the Transport sector, in the more immediate or more distant future? Or what news will we have in the Transport sector? Thank you very much!<\/p>\n

PR: The Transport sector has seen some gains lately. To name just the most recent, was the concession of the Lobito Corridor to a European consortium. This is a great gain for the sector.<\/p>\n

Others of lesser importance also happened, but perhaps they are not as relevant at this moment. We have now just inaugurated and put at the service of the Nation and the Continent this important infrastructure that will not only serve Angola, but will serve as an important airport transport hub for Africa and the world.<\/p>\n

In the near future, we are working to complete the construction works of two new airports, specifically Mbanza Congo Airport, in the province of Zaire, which will now have two airports, as it already has Soyo Airport ; the completion of the new Cabinda Airport, another province that will have two airports, as it already has Maria Mambo Cafe\u0301 Airport.<\/p>\n

We also think, and because we are committed to developing tourism in the Okavango\/Zambezi area, which comprises the easternmost provinces of our country, namely the provinces of Cuando Cubango and Moxico, in addition to the road connections that we are implementing – a of them has already started and is ongoing – on the Luau\/Marco 25\/Cazombo connection.<\/p>\n

The other road connection in Cuando Cubango will be Cuito Cuanavale\/Mavinga\/Rivungo, which is in the demining phase.<\/p>\n

He said that, in addition to these two road connections, we are very seriously considering the possibility of building the airports of Mavinga, in Cuando Cubango, and Cazombo, in Alto Zambeze, Moxico province.<\/p>\n

All this taking into account the great tourist potential that the Okavango\/Zambezi region has, particularly in these two provinces: Cuando Cubango and Moxico.<\/p>\n

Still talking about this sector, we have the Barra do Dande Development Pole, which is an industrial logistics hub, with a strong transport component, both port and rail, and which will represent, without a shadow of a doubt, also a great gain, when those infrastructures are built, with a large participation of the private sector. It will represent something very important for the economic and social development of our country.<\/p>\n

Further ahead, and returning here to this place, to the Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto International Airport, when studies so advise, there will still be works to be carried out, namely the possibility of building another terminal and another runway, in order to allow around 65 million passengers to travel through this airport per year.<\/p>\n

I repeat, when studies so advise, because the increase will be gradual, we will start with the already known five million passengers per year; from five to 15, we will increase until we reach this figure already studied [of 65 million], already programmed, but at that point, to reach it, we will have to build, I don’t know when, another terminal and another runway.<\/p>\n

Therefore, these are the perspectives we have for the Transport sector, without also forgetting the large port infrastructure, whose works are underway in the province of Cabinda. I am referring specifically to the large Deep Water Port in the town of Caio, province of Cabinda.<\/p>\n

The challenges are great, but these are investments that pay off, as the national economy will benefit from them.<\/p>\n

I would like to take this opportunity, following the example of what has just been done by the Minister of Transport, to also thank, on the one hand, and congratulate all the workers, all the companies that contributed to the success of this undertaking, the construction of this international airport.<\/p>\n

All of them, without exception, since its conception, in that distant year of 1997, since the actual beginning of the work in 2005 and, above all, those who caught the work already in the final phase, in the last five years, with the new contractor, the AVIC, who, with their work, their intelligence and their dedication, were able to make today’s date possible, the 10th of November, the date on which we inaugurated the Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto International Airport.<\/p>\n
