Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>An ecumenical thanksgiving service, under the motto “United for the Development of Angola”, held this Saturday, in the municipality of Balombo, was the highlight of the activities of the 48th anniversary of National Independence, in the province of Benguela.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the event, under the responsibility of the Benguela Provincial Commission of Churches for Ephemerides (COPIEB), intercessions were made in favor of the country, the rulers and the world, “to save humanity from situations that harm man, such as wars, earthquakes and other calamities”.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Reverend Marcelo Balanc\u0327a called for joint work between churches, the Government, political parties and civil society, regardless of each other’s ideologies, with the aim of achieving prosperity for the country.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the vice-governor for the Technical and Infrastructure area, Adilson Gonc\u0327alves, stated that this event is limited to the role that churches play in maintaining unity among Angolans.<\/p>\n

He said that the Independence Day celebrations, proclaimed by Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, contribute to a unique moment of reflection on the various achievements that the country has achieved in these 48 years of freedom.<\/p>\n

“We must awaken in all citizens the feeling of love for the country and work for the well-being and development of the nation”, he stated.<\/p>\n

Adilson Gonc\u0327alves pointed to the inauguration of the new international airport in Luanda as one of the many achievements of Angolans in favor of Angola, despite the long road that still remains to be covered.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Government’s program included a visit to the local cemetery, where a wreath was laid at the tomb of the unknown soldier.<\/p>\n

The Medium Health Institute, which is at 65 percent completion, due to the lack of payments for measurement records, also received a visit from members of the Provincial Government, on the day of “Dipanda”.<\/p>\n

The 20-classroom school initially had a construction deadline of six months, starting July 1, 2022, according to its representative.<\/p>\n

The project is being carried out by the company Sousa Lda. and is valued at 345,000,000.00 kwanzas.<\/p>\n
