Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, considered, this Saturday, in Luanda, the vandalization of 400 kilovolt (kV) high voltage towers on the transmission line as an act of “terrorism” Cambambe (Cuanza Norte) – the Viana (Luanda) substation.<\/b><\/p>\n

Last Tuesday, a 400 kilovolt (kV) high voltage tower fell on the Cambambe (Cuanza Norte) – Viana (Luanda) line as a result of the vandalization that the infrastructure has suffered in recent weeks, through by subtracting the angles (their foundations).<\/p>\n

Like the Cambambe-Viana transmission line, the kilometer (Km) 36 area is characterized by constant vandalism to assets of the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT), harming the well-being of the population and the State.<\/p>\n

Francisco Furtado, who was speaking to the press as part of the celebrations of the 48th anniversary of National Independence, considers that these are \u201cdirected sabotage actions that must fall within the scope of terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n

The minister stressed that the National Security and Defense Forces \u201cwill promote a fierce fight to neutralize the groups that are creating situations for instability, in order to make the country’s development unfeasible\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, there are signs that are being monitored and should be presented in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

Identical situations also occurred, with some frequency, in the oil-producing municipality of Soyo (Zaire) and in the city of Benguela.<\/p>\n

In an interview with TPA on Wednesday, the Minister of Energy and Water, Joa\u0303o Baptista Borges, stated that damage has been frequent in the Electricity Transport Network from the dams to the Distribution Centers.<\/p>\n

“We have started to run serious risks of having cities in the dark. It is a worrying situation and is already reaching the level of extreme seriousness. A few days ago, we witnessed the collapse of yet another High Voltage tower, which is part of the main Transport System, of the National Electricity Network\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The minister believes that the destruction of the towers is intentional and appealed for the collaboration of the public in denouncing the acts of the offenders.<\/p>\n

The situation, he acknowledged, is worrying, creating difficulties in replacing new poles and could leave cities in the dark.<\/p>\n

RNT has installed more than 5,500 kilometers of electricity lines in the country.<\/p>\n
