Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Ada\u0303o de Almeida, said this Saturday, in Saurimo, Lunda Sul province, that national independence, achieved on November 11, 1975, constitutes the realization of the dream of freedom, hope, national unity, progress and social justice for all Angolans.<\/b><\/p>\n

The governor, who was speaking at the central event of the 48th anniversary of national independence, which is celebrated under the motto \u201cUnited for the development of Angola\u201d, stated that the date celebrates history and the long journey that \u201ceveryone must walk together and praise the golden pages that record, forever and ever, the bravery and resistance of the ancestors\u201d.<\/p>\n

He highlighted, however, the national liberation struggle waged, from 1961 onwards, against the Portuguese colonizer, in the humiliating condition in which Angolans were subjected by the colonial power.<\/p>\n

Names such as Ngola Kiluange, Njinga Mbandi, Ekuikui II, Mandume, Mutu-Ya-Kevela, among others, were mentioned in reference to previous battles for the dignity of their people.<\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o de Almeida stressed that national independence was an important means of freeing ourselves from oppression, having dignity, being the master of destinies and building a prosperous Angola, for all its children, capable of promoting progress and social well-being of its people. Angolans.<\/p>\n

The minister cited a passage from then President Agostinho Neto, during the proclamation of independence, according to which the objective was to build a just society and a new man\u201d.<\/p>\n

He noted, however, that, unfortunately, the years after independence did not allow the dreams generated by it to come true, due to the climate of instability caused by a war lasting almost three decades, which physically and mentally mutilated many co-citizens and destroyed the insufficient infrastructure that the country had, preventing the building of the nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country we are building for current and future generations is also a supportive homeland, which leaves no one behind, which promotes and values \u200b\u200bthe role of women and is capable of ensuring the inclusion and well-being of the most vulnerable\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

According to Ada\u0303o de Almeida, to honor the precursors of independence, we must continue to build a society of values \u200b\u200band principles, where the common good is above the interests of individuals, which protects public heritage, respects democratically instituted powers, promotes good management of public affairs and combating corruption.<\/p>\n

He said that consolidating national unity, reinforcing the idea that \u201cwe are a single and indivisible homeland, from Cabinda to Cunene and from the sea to the East, is a primary challenge that must deserve everyone’s engagement\u201d.<\/p>\n

In another part of his intervention, the minister referred to the conflict scenarios that are present in various parts of the world, as well as issues linked to global warming, having considered that the situation at an international level suggests adopting the values \u200b\u200bof peace and the benefits independence and stability.<\/p>\n

For this reason, he said, there is a need to prepare for the external shocks to which all countries are subject, current generations could be witnesses to the emergence of a new world order, in a context marked by tendencies to assert a trade war between great powers, which could generate a deglobalization of international trade, adoption of measures, economic and state protectionism.<\/p>\n

Among other individuals, the event was attended by the governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto, the ministers of Territorial Administration, National Defense, Culture and Tourism, Youth and Sports, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, as well as Higher Education, Sciences, Technology and Innovation.<\/p>\n

Also present were the Secretary of State for the Interior, representatives of political parties with parliamentary seats, ecclesiastical and traditional authorities and order and defense personnel.<\/p>\n

The laying of a wreath on the bust of the first President of Angola, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, and the inauguration of several infrastructures also marked the celebrations of the 48th anniversary of national independence in this province, in an event that featured performances by local musicians Cigano Weza , Super Mutepa and the duo Mipica\/Ministro.<\/p>\n
