Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola’s ambassador to South Africa, Rui Xavier, this Saturday urged Angolans in the diaspora to contribute to achieving the country’s greatest challenges, with a view to achieving everyone’s well-being.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the ceremony commemorating the 48th anniversary of national independence, the diplomat highlighted November 11th as one of the most important dates in the history of the Angolan people, as it marks the end of colonial oppression and the beginning of the struggle to satisfy the main needs of citizens in the most varied domains.<\/p>\n

Rui Xavier recalled the war that followed the achievement of National Independence, which postponed the dreams of thousands of Angolans.<\/p>\n

For her part, the consul general in Johannesburg, Irene Santos, highlighted the historical journey of Angolans before and after National Independence, also remembering the suffering of the South African people during the apartheid regime.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, led by ambassador Rui Orlando Xavier, was attended by hundreds of Angolan citizens residing in South Africa.<\/p>\n
