Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o accredited, on Monday, 13 new ambassadors, including seven with resident status and six non-residents.<\/b><\/p>\n

The resident ambassadors are from Belgium, Cuba, Nicaragua, Egypt and Rwanda, including the permanent representative of the European Union (EU) in the country, all with resident status.<\/p>\n

Non-residents are from Mauritius, the Federation of Canada, the Kingdom of Denmark, Jamaica, Ethiopia, and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Head of State at IFAD meeting<\/p>\n

The President of the Republic will co-chair the meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), to be held next December, in Paris (France).<\/p>\n

The information was provided to journalists by the new French ambassador to Angola, Sophie Aubert, after handing over to President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o yesterday, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta, the letters of credentials that enable her to carry out diplomatic activities in the country.<\/p>\n

With resident status, the French diplomat said she had spoken with the Head of State about the main events on which the two countries will work, highlighting that during her time in Angola she will emphasize the materialization and promotion of projects with common benefits.<\/p>\n

Sophie Aubert, 56 years old, has held diplomatic posts in Algeria, Paraguay, Guinea, Brazil and Syria.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also received, yesterday, at the Presidential Palace, letters of credentials from the ambassadors of Belgium, Cuba, Nicaragua, Egypt and Rwanda, including the permanent representative of the European Union (EU) in the country, all with resident status.<\/p>\n

EU wants to reinforce cooperation<\/p>\n

The representative of the European Union, Rosa\u0301ria Bento Pais, after handing over letters of credentials to President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, that the organization intends to increasingly reinforce, with Angola, cooperation in various areas, with emphasis on the diversification of the economy, governance and development human.<\/p>\n

With the Angolan Government, the 53-year-old Portuguese diplomat spoke of the European Union’s intention to boost cooperation in the area of \u200b\u200bregional security, biodiversity protection and climate change.<\/p>\n

Rosa\u0301ria Bento, who has worked as a diplomat in Luxembourg, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Gabon and with the Economic Community of Central African States, considered the EU’s assessment of Angola’s performance at regional level to be “very positive” in terms of “In terms of security, Angola has had a very positive performance, not only at the regional level but also on the continent”, said the diplomat, highlighting the fact that it was no coincidence that President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was elected by the African Union (UA) Champion of Peace and Reconciliation.<\/p>\n

Cooperation with Nicaragua<\/p>\n

Nicaragua’s new ambassador, Roberto Fuentes, said he had expressed to President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o the Nicaraguan Government’s interest in strengthening bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation.<\/p>\n

“We are willing to strengthen ties of bilateral friendship and cooperation and open the doors to share experiences with Angola, especially in the areas of Health, Education and Agriculture, and in everything that can be beneficial for both peoples”, said the diplomat , remembering the fact that it is, for the first time, that the country establishes a permanent mission in Luanda.<\/p>\n

To journalists, Roberto Fuentes recognized the “great effort” of the Angolan Government and people in preserving peace and reconciliation, as well as improving the population’s living conditions.<\/p>\n

“The same effort takes place in Nicaragua. Therefore, we have the same ambition to work in favor of the well-being of citizens”, explained the diplomat, who said he had transmitted to the Head of State a message of “fraternal greeting” from his Nicaraguan counterpart, Daniel Ortega.<\/p>\n

Message from the Cuban leader<\/p>\n

A message of greeting from the Cuban President, Miguel Di\u0301az-Canel, to the Angolan Head of State, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, was transmitted by the new Cuban ambassador accredited, yesterday, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta.<\/p>\n

O\u0301scar Leon Gonzalez spoke of the brotherhood that exists between the Angolan and Cuban people, and the need for the two States to develop and consolidate cooperative relations in the most varied areas.<\/p>\n

“Angola is, for us, our second home. There is a history of common work and struggle\u201d, declared the Cuban diplomat, highlighting that throughout his mandate he will seek to develop bilateral political, economic and social relations.<\/p>\n

Rwanda’s new ambassador, Charles Ruidakubana, considered bilateral relations “excellent”, adding that they can be improved. “Existing bilateral relations can be strengthened. We wish to cooperate with Angola in consolidating peace in the region and increasingly strengthening economic cooperation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The six new ambassadors with non-resident status are from Mauritius, Jean Chaumiere, from the Federation of Canada, Sara Nicholls, Kingdom of Denmark, Elsebeth Krone, from Jamaica, Joan Medwars, from Ethiopia, Fortuna Cizarer, and Georgia, Roland Beridze.<\/p>\n
