Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>An operation against price speculation and hoarding of products that make up the basic basket of the festive season was launched in Luanda, by the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), aiming to prevent and guarantee food safety of the population.<\/b><\/p>\n

Nationwide, the campaign is called \u201cOperation Christmas\u201d and runs until the first week of January 2024, to inspect and monitor large, medium and small companies that operate in the marketing chain of these products, ensuring control of their quality. .<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference to present the activity, the deputy inspector general of ANIESA, Heleno Antunes, said that this is a redoubling of the actions that the institution carries out routinely, but will focus on products that are most sold and consumed during the festive season.<\/p>\n

The official said that the operation will have a preventive aspect, where agents will be advised to act in accordance with existing legislation and a punitive aspect, which will involve the imposition of fines, temporary suspension of activity, seizure of products and closure of establishments.<\/p>\n

Heleno Antunes added that the campaign counts on the collaboration of municipal inspection services, through the provincial integrated economic development offices, National Institute of Standardization and Quality, General Tax Administration (AGT) and Criminal Investigation Services (SIC), which will support the 170 staff available to carry out the activity.<\/p>\n

Representing the largest consumer market in the country, Luanda’s provincial director of integrated economic development, Dorivaldo Ada\u0303o, said that this measure is in line with GPL’s actions aimed at reorganizing trade, ensuring that Luanda residents pay a fair price for product purchased by you.<\/p>\n

He said that at this time of year many people travel to Luanda to purchase products for the festive season, and it is also the time preferred by traders to speculate on prices and engage in other illicit practices to the detriment of consumers.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that GPL’s fight is to avoid price speculation and ensure that citizens purchase quality products, and to this end, it has the contact number 937559352 for reporting, complaining or reporting any irregularity.<\/p>\n
