Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Energy and Water, Joa\u0303o Borges, reiterated, this Wednesday, in Cuango, Lunda Norte province, that the Angolan Executive will continue to invest in the creation of energy projects aimed at production, expansion and access to energy clean and cheap.<\/b><\/p>\n

The government official reiterated this commitment during the laying of the first stone ceremony for the construction of the photovoltaic park in the town of Cafunfo, municipality of Cuango, highlighting that Angola intends with these investments to reach the target of 72 percent of the Angolan population benefiting from clean energy , until 2027.<\/p>\n

“The population of Cafunfo and in many parts of the country have access to energy at high prices and it is because of this that two years ago we began to develop a series of projects, prioritizing provinces with a very low rate of electrical production, building , with external financing, hydroelectric plants and photovoltaic parks to greatly reduce production and consumption costs”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that with the launch of the rural electrification project, which will benefit 60 communes in the provinces of Bie\u0301, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Malanje and Moxico, the Executive wants to expand clean energy to remote areas of the country and far from the coast.<\/p>\n

He said that the project aims to respond to the needs developed in the Angola 2025 Plan strategy, defined by the Government, which aims to transform Angola into a prosperous, modern country with a growing insertion in the global and regional economy.<\/p>\n

He made it known that in Lunda Norte the project will be implemented in 15 towns and communes in six municipalities (Caungo, Caungula, Cambulo, Capenda Camulemba, Lubalo and Xa\u0301-muteba) benefiting 74 thousand 368 families.<\/p>\n

The Cafunfo project will be built in three years and will include a photovoltaic park with 72 thousand panels, which will have the capacity to produce 41.40 megawatts and a further 101.80 MW stored in batteries, for nighttime production.<\/p>\n

Budgeted at one billion, 27 thousand 914 Euros, the project includes public lighting, medium, high and low voltage distribution network.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, after the completion of the photovoltaic plant, business opportunities will be created, that is, the ministry and ENDE will allow authorized agents to emerge for the sale of prepaid meter top-ups, specialized companies for equipment maintenance, among other services.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he appealed to the population not to vandalize energy projects implemented in the country, with emphasis on energy transport networks.<\/p>\n

The project<\/p>\n

With a voltaic capacity of 265 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic power and 595 MW of battery storage, the economic value contributed by the project, considering the savings compared to alternative solutions and the gain in the population’s income, is between 3.1 and 5.9 billion euros.<\/p>\n

The project foresees 202 thousand and 657 household connections, 12 systems connected to the grid (electrification plus three substations).<\/p>\n

Electrification will be high, medium and low voltage, with 46 isolated systems, 12 connected to the grid and three substations of two connected to the grid.<\/p>\n

It has strategic partners, whose financing and\/or financial support of 1.2 billion Euros is provided by the German company Euler Hermes.<\/p>\n

MCA, a Portuguese company, is the builder of the 46 solar mini-grids and the British Satanderd Chartered is responsible for the assembly and operation of the energy project.<\/p>\n

The Angolan State intends with this project to make a positive environmental contribution by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which are between 4.2 and 8.0 million tons of CO2.<\/p>\n

Angola is, par excellence, a place with different conditions for the use of solar energy, with an average global annual horizontal radiation of between 1,370 and 2,100 kWh\/m2\/year.<\/p>\n

The most suitable technology to take advantage of solar resources is the production of electricity through photovoltaic systems, which is the fastest installation technology (less than 1 year) and with the lowest maintenance cost, and which is gradually no longer so costly. giving greater meaning to small\/medium-sized and decentralized solutions.<\/p>\n
