Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Industry, Ivan Magalha\u0303es do Prado, reiterated this Wednesday, in Luanda, the sector’s commitment to raising awareness and raising cultural levels regarding the quality of products for the development of the economy and the national market .<\/b><\/p>\n

The Secretary of State, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the National Quality Week (SENAQ-2023), highlighted that the objective is to join the global effort to reduce technical barriers to trade, harmonize the quality of products , systems and processes.<\/p>\n

The awareness measure, he said, aims to improve what is offered to consumers, regulate competitiveness between markets and economic operators.<\/p>\n

“We are alerted to the special attention that we must give to the functioning and robustness of the Angolan Quality System (SAQ), if we consider the facts of the advent of the country’s imminent entry into the open market in the SADC region and the African continent, as well such as trade relations with CPLP countries, European, American and Asian economic blocs”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

According to the Secretary of State for Industry, in the current context of production, trade and economic development, competitiveness is technically regulated, to a large extent, by quality, through the use of technical standards, especially those supported by international level, as well as metrology, accreditation, technical regulation and conformity assessment activities.<\/p>\n

He highlighted, on the other hand, the actions that are being implemented, which aim to develop quality matters and with a new SAQ architecture.<\/p>\n

In turn, the director of the National Institute of Quality Infrastructures, Olga Dicamba, made it known that more and more institutions are working with internationally accepted quality and standards.<\/p>\n

“In the medium and long term, we will have national products and services that are increasingly of quality for consumption and for those who intend to export”, he said.<\/p>\n

The official added that the standards in the institution’s catalog are adapted and internationally accepted by ISO, which is the global quality standardization organization.<\/p>\n

Olga Dicamba made it known that the food sector is the one that has shown the greatest interest in international references.<\/p>\n

“We need to publicize what is being done, we have companies that work in the field of quality and increase the number of technicians”, he concluded.<\/p>\n

The meeting, promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, through INIQ, took place under the motto “Improve to compete” and was part of the celebrations of World Quality Day, celebrated on the 9th of this month.<\/p>\n

The activity aimed to increase awareness of the culture of quality, bring together various sectors and segments of society to address issues about quality and encourage organizations to use technical standards and other quality tools.<\/p>\n

World Quality Day was established by the United Nations in 1990 and is celebrated annually on the second Thursday of November.<\/p>\n
