Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy governor of Namibe for Political, Economic and Social areas, Abel Kapitango, said that maritime safety is one of the priorities for the Fisheries sector, as it is the best way to reduce deaths during fishing activities in the province.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person in charge was speaking at the closing ceremony of training on \u201cSustainability and maritime safety, which resulted in the training of 40 operators in semi-industrial fishing, including masters, foremen, sailors, shipowners and fishermen from the municipalities of Moc\u0327a\u0302medes and To\u0302mbwa.<\/p>\n

Abel Kapitango defended greater rigor in the licensing of vessels, a strict fight against indiscriminate fishing, and called on businesspeople in the sector to invest in means that can guarantee the safety of fishermen.<\/p>\n

Abel Kapitango called on operators to contribute to reducing shipwrecks, applying the knowledge acquired and cooperating with maritime authorities at the seminar on sustainable fishing and maritime safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to invest in the training of operators in the fishing sector, in the vision of the Provincial Government, for the period 2022-2027, ensuring and guaranteeing essential conditions for the professional qualification of staff in the sector\u201d, he reinforced.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the coordinator of the Technical area of \u200b\u200bthe Instituto Mari\u0301timo He\u0301lder Neto, Francisco Kito, informed that, during the seminar, which was divided into 4 modules, topics such as maritime navigation, guidance system at sea, first aid, accident prevention, practical coexistence at sea, training in entrepreneurship and business management, Angolan labor legislation and the tax system.<\/p>\n

In this first phase, the trainees were certified by the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP), guaranteeing their professionalization.<\/p>\n

This training was promoted by the Government of Namibe, in partnership with INEFOP and the Instituto Mari\u0301timo He\u0301lder Neto, over a period of six weeks.<\/p>\n
