Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA) in the province of Luanda reaffirmed, this Saturday, its willingness to continue to unconditionally support the President of the MPLA and the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in his arduous mission of directing the destinies of the party and the country .<\/b><\/p>\n

The message was read by the organization’s first secretary in the province of Luanda, Luzia Policarpo, during a mass event that preceded a march that started from Largo Jose\u0301 Pira\u0303o to Cidadela Desportiva.<\/p>\n

The moment, although with threats of rain, was also marked by the presentation of the new members of the OMA secretariat in Luanda.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Luzia Policarpo said that the act serves to reflect on the achievements of the Angolan Executive, under the leadership of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, having highlighted that the MPLA’s political agenda under the motto, \u201cwork harder and communicate better\u201d, calls for engagement of the organization in order to materialize the programmed actions.<\/p>\n

He continued that the challenges imposed on the organization require it to rescue the mystique of the OMA, with a view to undertaking greater dynamism, innovation and proactivity so that it is more integrated into the various segments of society.<\/p>\n

In turn, the first secretary of the MPLA in the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, highlighted the value of Angolan women, having mentioned that since the beginning of Angola’s liberation struggle they have always had the engagement of \u201cbrave and valuable women\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also said that the country will count on this fringe of society to correct the great evils that still plague the country, such as corruption, sycophancy, nepotism and impunity.<\/p>\n

Manuel Homem also stated that within the party in Luanda, considerable progress has been made in gender empowerment, noting that women are in better conditions to achieve their full equality potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen are a fundamental asset for the development of our country, for this reason the MPLA values \u200b\u200bthe social status of women, defends their rights and freedoms, as well as their inclusion in active life\u201d, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The general secretary of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), Joana Toma\u0301s, said that the organization has several challenges to meet, from literacy, combating domestic violence, sexual abuse against children, as well as cases of murder of women and girls.<\/p>\n

To this end, he said that an awareness and education campaign for society is being developed, carried out by the OMA, with a view to reducing these cases.<\/p>\n
