Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The commander of the Central Military Region (RMC), Lieutenant General Paulo Silva Xavier \u201cPassix\u201d, called, this Saturday, for the involvement of retired officers in the country’s challenges, with a focus on promoting and reinforcing patriotic, moral and civic values .<\/b><\/p>\n

When speaking at the ceremony honoring 311 retired military personnel, including senior officers, captains, subalterns and sergeants, the commander said it was important that the patriotic values \u200b\u200bdemonstrated through long years of service to the military community were instilled in younger generations.<\/p>\n

The general officer hoped that these principles would result in ethics, civility, discipline, organization, dedication to work, respect and humility.<\/p>\n

He declared that the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), as a moral reserve of the Nation and a true school of life, recognize the contribution made by retired people, especially in the most difficult moments of the historical path of the struggle for the preservation of independence, national sovereignty and achieve the peace so desired by Angolans.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he said that the FAA will continue to make retired people, among other spaces, an inexhaustible source of recovery of values \u200b\u200bthat will certainly contribute to the implementation of the process of moralizing society.<\/p>\n

He added that the body pays, on this occasion, a well-deserved tribute, which marks another stage in the life of each of the retired people who, for several years, served the country, demonstrating the spirit of mission, duty, bravery, courage, competence, good sense, intelligence and leadership in managing and leading men, many of whom sacrificed their own lives.<\/p>\n

The lieutenant general said that the legacy of retired officers will continue to inspire all soldiers of the Angolan Armed Forces by discouraging the feeling of incapacity or uselessness, much less a definitive separation from friends and comrades in arms.<\/p>\n

The FAA general officer recalled that the reform process is one of the unavoidable legal imperatives for consolidating the rebuilding, resizing and modernization of the Angolan Armed Forces, as it allows for the gradual rejuvenation of personnel.<\/p>\n

Visibly moved, Colonel Artur Salua, 61 years old, one of the retirees, said he had worked 41 years in the service of the Fatherland, hence the reason for leaving with a feeling of duty accomplished.<\/p>\n

He was ready to take on other social challenges.<\/p>\n

He appealed, on behalf of others, to the new generation of military personnel to serve with a feeling of patriotism, honor and selflessness for the Fatherland, valuing the legacy and efforts undertaken over the years.<\/p>\n

Witnessed by general officers, magistrates from military bodies, former combatants, family members and staff from the FAA Social Security Fund, the ceremony paid homage to the 311 retired military personnel in the Central Military Region, which covers the provinces of Benguela, Bie\u0301, Cuanza Sul and Huambo (General headquarters), was marked with the delivery of a certificate of merit.<\/p>\n
