Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola assumed, this Tuesday, in the city of Praia, Cape Verde, the Presidency of the Superior Councils of Justice of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), for the 2023-2025 Biennium.<\/b><\/p>\n

The election was made unanimously and the vote by acclamation on the last day of the work of the 1st Edition of the Summit of the Superior Councils of Justice of the CPLP that took place in the archipelago, on the 20th and 21st of this year, under the motto \u201cThe impact of new technologies in organization, training and judicial management\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Praia Letter was signed on the digital transformation of the CPLP judicial systems, which confirmed that digital transformation is essential for the development of the community.<\/p>\n

Participants recognized the different degrees of maturity in the development, use and availability of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources and solutions in member countries.<\/p>\n

They also approved that existing \u201coff-line\u201d rights must also be protected in digital environments and the special condition of vulnerability of the digitally excluded.<\/p>\n

The Praia Charter highlights that the digital transformation of judicial services must be guided by expanding access to Justice and promoting a fair, equitable, inclusive and safe society.<\/p>\n

Mutual assistance and international cooperation, the document highlights, are essential for overcoming digital inequalities, with a view to providing universal, accessible and efficient judicial services.<\/p>\n

It establishes as an objective the commitment of CPLP Member States to expand the availability of judicial services in digital environments.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned Charter adopts as guiding principles for the digitalization process of courts, the expansion of access to Justice, promotion of human dignity and legal security.<\/p>\n

It indicates that judicial services must be safe, transparent, ethical and auditable, as well as the virtuality of services must be carried out according to the needs and interests of the user.<\/p>\n

To implement the digitalization process of the Courts in the CPLP, the Praia Charter establishes 16 goals, with the tasks to be developed, previously defined, as well as a schedule for the achievement of the 16 goals, per year, from 2024 to 2034.<\/p>\n
