Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, stated, this Wednesday, in Luanda, that promoting a culture of peace implies valuing the collective, encouraging respect for differences, as well as consecrating diversity as a source of wealth.<\/b><\/p>\n

In the opening speech of the 3rd edition of the Luanda Biennial, the Head of State explained that only in this way can we act as a driving factor in reinforcing social justice, equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n

Regarding inclusion, he argued that it is essential to focus on it, as each citizen must feel valued for their knowledge, desires and capabilities in order to build societies in which all voices will be heard, all sensibilities respected and all social segments taken into consideration.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he recalled that Angola assumed the responsibility of hosting the forum, every two years, because it knows the importance for African countries and not only the issue of peace and peaceful coexistence within societies.<\/p>\n

He considered that no effort to consecrate the idea that peace is a non-negotiable good for Humanity will produce the desired results if a serious, firm and coherent commitment is not made to the education of people and, especially, young people.<\/p>\n

He called on young people to intervene in this process, with a sense of duty towards society, families, schools, churches, sports associations, cultural groups, associations and other entities of a similar nature.<\/p>\n

He proposed that there is a need to see it implemented by the institutions mentioned above and as much as possible, widely disseminated through the media, as well as through digital platforms, which can play a constructive role in this effort to promote the culture of peace.<\/p>\n

“We must reflect on the relevance of developing public policies aimed at a culture of peace which, more than a concept, must be seen as a principle to be included in the national development strategies of our countries”, he reiterated.<\/p>\n

The Luanda Biennial is attended by the Presidents of Cape Verde, Jose\u0301 Maria Neves, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, and Ethiopia, Sahle-WorkZewed, as well as the Vice-President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, and the First -Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Manuela RokaBotey.<\/p>\n

The Luanda Biennale serves as a platform for implementing the “Action Plan for a Culture of Peace in Africa – Let us act for peace”, adopted in March 2013, in the Angolan capital, at the Pan-African Forum “Sources and Resources for a Culture of Peace”.<\/p>\n
