Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Governor of the Province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, said this Wednesday, in the country’s capital, that the race track could see better days.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, in honor of driver Rui Andrade, world motorsport champion, in the LMP2 category, he said that the institution, together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Angolan Federation of the sport, will do everything to revitalize the space.<\/p>\n

At the event, held in the Luanda Bay tent, Manuel Homem said that the race track deserves greater attention from sports agents, aiming to resolve the situation of occupation of the facilities and adjacent areas by citizens.<\/p>\n

The reversal of the situation, according to the person responsible, will depend on planning and strategy by all bodies involved, aiming to find the best solution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a desire from the provincial government for the Luanda race track to continue to exist and for the development of this sport to be extended to other young people so that champions can emerge, like Rui Andrade\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

In turn, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, recognized the much work to be done at the Luanda race track, plagued by illegal occupations.<\/p>\n

He stated that he had met with the president of the Angolan Motor Sports Federation, Ramiro Barreira, and that last Sunday they checked the condition of the tracks in the country’s capital.<\/p>\n

He recognized the difficulty of building, in the short term, a high-level runway, with all international standards.<\/p>\n

However, Palmira Barbosa said that with winning the World Cup, Angola has been well-referenced internationally, a situation that could help encourage other institutions to intervene in the matter.<\/p>\n

The honoree, Rui Andrade, was delighted with the reception he received upon arriving in the country and all the tributes he received.<\/p>\n

He indicated that the main objective is to continue growing and be able to move up to Formula 1, but for this to happen he needs more investment.<\/p>\n

He recognized that the country has a lot of talent and that there is a lack of greater commitment from legal entities, in addition to the need for infrastructure, training of technicians and other means.<\/p>\n

Rui Andrade heads to Namibe on Saturday, the land where he began to take his first steps in motorsport, for another tribute to his global achievement.<\/p>\n

This is the first world title for the driver, but the second at an international level, after having won the European trophy, in the same category, in 2021, at the Portima\u0303o circuit, in Portugal.<\/p>\n
