Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Around eight thousand new personnel will soon be incorporated into the National Police, to reinforce the areas of public security and border protection, the Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho, announced on Thursday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The minister, who was speaking in Parliament as part of the discussion, in particular, of the OGE-2024 Law proposal, said that they are in a phase of staff rotation, mainly those of the Border Guard, who have been at border posts for more than 10 years.<\/p>\n

“We received from the Armed Forces eight thousand personnel who are undergoing training and will soon swear the flag to reinforce public security and renew the Border Guard Police”, he assured.<\/p>\n

The holder of the Interior portfolio made it known that there is a program to modernize and improve national borders.<\/p>\n

“We are starting with the main borders with communication routes, such as Luvo (Zaire), Maquela do Zombo (Ui\u0301ge), Cambulo and Chissamba (Lunda Norte)”, he pointed out.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), 22 police units will be opened in the next few days in the various provinces of the country.<\/p>\n

PIIM aims to materialize Public Investment (PIP), Development Support Expenditure (DAD) and Basic Activities, with priority given to actions of a social nature, in order to inhibit rural exodus and promote economic, social and most inclusive region in the country.<\/p>\n

The minister informed, on the other hand, that they are also working on promoting staff, highlighting that many prefer to earn their rank rather than their position.<\/p>\n

He added that the budget for the 2024 financial year includes the financial autonomy of the provincial delegations of the Ministry of the Interior and the Provincial Commands of the National Police, “a fact that will help solve many problems”.<\/p>\n

Use of sirens only with superior authorization<\/p>\n

When responding to a concern raised by a deputy, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho assured that related bodies will combat the misuse of sirens on public roads, stating that there is a law that prohibits any citizen from using this mechanism.<\/p>\n

“We have taken some measures in relation to the improper use of sirens on public roads,” said the minister, remembering that there are members of the Executive and sovereign bodies authorized for this purpose.<\/p>\n

Electronic radars<\/p>\n

The Minister of the Interior announced, in the near future, the installation of electronic radars on public roads, to detect various road traffic violations.<\/p>\n

The Interior Minister informed that road safety detachments along national roads will also be rehabilitated.<\/p>\n

In this regard, he said that there is a Government program to equip these detachments with ambulances, modern rescue, rescue and extrication equipment, among others.<\/p>\n

The debate, in particular, on the State General Budget Law Proposal (OGE-2024) reserves, for this Friday, a meeting with the Minister of State for Economic Coordination and the ministers of the Economic team of the Real Sector of the Economy and the Minister of Territorial Administration.<\/p>\n
