Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho, appealed, Friday, in Luanda, to public and private institutions and society in general, to work on preserving the country’s environment, with a view to ensuring well-being of all.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview with the press on the sidelines of the launch of the National Campaign \u201cEducate for Sustainability\u201d, he said it was imperative to work hand in hand to preserve the environment, so that future generations can live better.<\/p>\n

As you know, he said, the ministry has a national strategic program for environmental education, raising awareness in society, with a target of 80 percent of the population, an ambitious target, which will start with schools.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, this campaign is a partnership between the Ministries of Environment, Education and Telecommunications and Information Technology, with the aim of implementing the initiatives foreseen in ENEA.<\/p>\n

“We want to ensure the effective adoption in Angola of the creation and implementation of social value, knowledge, habits, attitudes and skills aimed at conserving the environment, exploration and sustainable use of resources in favor of improving the quality of life and its sustainability” , he stressed.<\/p>\n

For minister Ana Paula de Carvalho, basic sanitation in Angola still has some aspects that need to be improved, one of the main ones being the education that people should have when throwing rubbish in their own places.<\/p>\n

The governor also highlighted the important and essential role of training in environmental education, as well as raising public awareness in the spheres of power, with a view to promoting a broad discussion of topics related to ecology.<\/p>\n

In turn, the national provincial director, Phinemena, made it known that the development of environmental education programs aimed at society allows the bringing together of different social groups, namely families, students, teachers, technicians from companies and public and private institutions.<\/p>\n

In this particular, Phinemena referred to a culture of sustainability that will contribute substantially to the development of human capabilities to adapt to the various changes occurring in their environment, strengthening capabilities in responding to vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n

“”Although the Ministry of the Environment is responsible for the environment, it alone will not be able to draw up policies related to the environment, as there is an increasing need to preserve the environment. Meanwhile, let’s educate children and young people to have a more prosperous and healthy society”, she said.<\/p>\n
