Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The provincial campaign of sixteen (16) days of activism to end violence against women and girls was opened, Friday, in this city, as part of a promotion by the Provincial Secretariat for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality.<\/b><\/p>\n

In the opening act of the campaign, which takes place under the motto “Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls to Strengthen the Unity of Angolan Families”, the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, said that gender-based violence is considered worldwide as one of the most visible forms of violation of human rights, particularly those of women, girls and children.<\/p>\n

“Violence must be considered a public health problem, which manifests itself in multiple forms, such as stigma, gender discrimination, physical, property, economic, psychological violence, sexual abuse and exploitation, including harassment, child marriage, abandonment family and the escape from fatherhood”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The governor also said that the fight against domestic violence is a priority for the Angolan Executive and is an indispensable element for the construction of a democratic and fair society, based on respect for the rights of equality of the human person, thus guaranteeing the equality of opportunity between men and women.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue to call on the responsibility of all actors in society to be defenders in the fight against this evil that has been tearing families apart,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

For her part, the provincial secretary for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Fa\u0301tima Congo Sambo, said that 232 cases were clarified from January to October this year, with twenty parents who signed terms of responsibility for decent assistance to their children , 34 cases sent to the registry office to obtain the children’s civil registration and 20 cases to the PGR to comply with the provision of maintenance.<\/p>\n
