Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The increase in national production and, consequently, the expansion of exports of Angolan beverages will continue to be the main priorities of the Association of Beverage Industries of Angola (AIBA), which recently renewed the mandate of its board members to five more years.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the re-elected president of AIBA, Manuel Sumbula, the association’s agenda is also to be increasingly self-sufficient in the raw materials that the beverage industry needs, despite currently around 80% of the packaging used is already produced in Angola .<\/p>\n

Among other challenges, the person responsible also points out the creation of the barcode used internationally to identify the production of Angolan drinks.<\/p>\n

According to Manuel Sumbula, the beverage sector remains one of the most developed in Angola, in terms of production capacity and economic development.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he added, AIBA defends a joint task force between the Angolan Executive and the Beverage Industry, to define a national strategy to protect national industries and boost exports, both within the scope of SADC and intercontinental.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the businessman considers the opening of the Dr. Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto International Airport as a platform for people and goods capable of being the engine for the development of exports, particularly at the regional level and on other continents.<\/p>\n

AIBA also prioritizes national employability, substantiating community connections, the settlement of local populations around factories as a factor of stability for citizens and their families.<\/p>\n

Established on October 1, 2014, in Luanda, the Angolan Beverage Industries Association’s mission is to be the body that represents the national beverage industry, defending its interests and rights with a single voice.<\/p>\n

AIBA defends free competition and freedom of access to the national beverage industry market. It currently controls around 50 members, being represented in six categories, namely the segment of table waters, juices and nectars, soft drinks, beers, ciders, wines, spirits and packaging.<\/p>\n
