Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The 3rd edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace, held in Luanda, with an agenda essentially dedicated to the peaceful resolution of conflicts, marked the political news of the week.<\/b><\/p>\n

Also known as the Luanda Biennial, the Forum is a biannual meeting in support of the Pan-African Movement for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, in a joint initiative of the Angolan Government, UNESCO and the African Union (AU).<\/p>\n

In his opening speech, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, encouraged the culture of peace in Africa, as a fundamental step towards promoting progress and development.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the collective’s value in promoting the culture of peace and reaffirmed that the end of the conflict in the Middle East involves the creation of the Palestinian State.<\/p>\n

He participated in the Panel “Young people, actors in promoting the culture of peace and social transformations on the continent\/High Level Dialogue”, where he announced the start, next year, of the green hydrogen exploration project, in Barra do Dande, Bengo.<\/p>\n

On the sidelines of the event, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o held courtesy meetings with his counterpart from Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, and with the President of the African Union Commission, Moussa Falo Mahamat.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he also received the deputy director general of UNESCO, Xingu Que, the vice-president of AfremximBank, Benedict Oramah, as well as the former presidents of Mozambique and Nigeria, respectively Joaquim Chissano and Olusengu Obasanjo.<\/p>\n

The Head of State’s agenda also includes separate hearings, with his counterparts from Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde, and from Cape Verde, Jose\u0301 Maria Neves.<\/p>\n

He assessed with the president of China Gezhouba Group Company Limited (CGGC), Tan Huan, the level of execution of the construction project for the Caculo-Cabac\u0327a hydroelectric plant, Cuanza Norte province.<\/p>\n

He presided over the ceremony honoring world-winning athletes in the various sports categories, where he declared that Angola could be better if investments were made in mass development at the level of neighborhoods and communities.<\/p>\n

He expressed dismay at the death of 70 people, in recent days, in the provinces of Hui\u0301la and Huambo, due to direct lightning strikes.<\/p>\n

Another highlight is the participation of the president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, in the Plenary of the SADC Parliamentary Forum taking place in Port Louis, Mauritius, until Sunday.<\/p>\n

Speaking in the debate on the Report of the Monitoring Committee on the Model Laws of the region, he considered the Lobito Corridor as a gain for the Southern African Development Community, as it constitutes an integrated multidimensional platform and facilitates the implementation of the African Free Trade Area .<\/p>\n

The decision, at the same meeting, for Angola to host, from the 1st to the 7th of July 2024, the Plenary Assembly of the SADC Forum, was highlighted in the political news.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy is the discussion, in particular, of the General State Budget (OGE) for 2024, where the Minister of State and Head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, assured that the country is taking care of the financial issue of demobilized people who They never contributed to the security system of the armed forces.<\/p>\n

In the same discussion, the Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0302nio Labirinto, announced the relaunch of agricultural production in prison units to improve the diet of inmates and self-sustainment of the organ’s structures.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he stated that around eight thousand new personnel will soon be incorporated into the National Police to reinforce public security and border protection.<\/p>\n
