Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Seven medals, two of which are gold, and a qualification for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024, marked Angola’s participation in the African Canoeing Championship, which ended on Sunday, in Abuja (Nigeria).<\/b><\/p>\n

The National Team, for both sexes, also won two silver medals and three bronze medals.<\/p>\n

Qualifying for Paris was a feat achieved by the duo Manuel Anto\u0301nio\/Benilson Sanda, in the 500m.<\/p>\n

Despite the achievement, Angola was in sixth place in the overall medal table, led by South Africa, with eight gold and one bronze.<\/p>\n

Host Nigeria was second, with 4 gold, four silver and one bronze.<\/p>\n

Tunisia remained in third place, with three gold, five silver and seven bronze, in a total of 13 countries, in which Cote d’Ivoire was the last without a medal.<\/p>\n

Angola also participated in the event with Avelino de Almeida (paracanoe), Jairo Domingos, Lucre\u0301cia Gomes and Sima\u0303o Camazaulo, in Kayak.<\/p>\n

With this qualification for the biggest multi-sport event in the world, Angola repeats the feat of 2008 and 2012, when it was present in Beijing and London, respectively.<\/p>\n

In addition to the canoeing pair (C2), Angola is also already qualified for next year’s Olympic Games with the Rowing, by Andre\u0301 Matias, and women’s handball.<\/p>\n
