Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>National lecturer Nanay Gourgel highlighted, this Monday, in Benguela, that female police officers have been guided by rigorous action in carrying out their duties, in favor of elevating and dignifying the image of the corporation.<\/b><\/p>\n

The teacher was also a speaker on the theme “Female leadership: origin and perspectives”, within the scope of the II National Conference on the Training of Police Women, which has been taking place since the 26th of November, in the province of Benguela.<\/p>\n

The speaker recognized that women police officers are excellent in carrying out their duties, as a result of the Ministry of the Interior’s commitment to the permanent training of this social fringe.<\/p>\n

Just to give an example, Nanay Gourgel, citing data read in a newspaper, recalled the fact that the Ministry of the Interior<\/p>\n

has already promoted more than two thousand women to management positions.<\/p>\n

“I collected this phenomenal information in a newspaper and I can only say that women police officers are at the highest level of their capabilities”, he maintained.<\/p>\n

Nanay Gourgel recognized that, unlike other public sectors, the Ministerial Department responsible for the Interior has been concerned with first training and then empowering female police officers.<\/p>\n

Highlighting that the province of Benguela alone has more than 700 female police officers, Nanay Gourgel says that this training is the best way to integrate women into decision-making bodies at the level of Defense and Security bodies.<\/p>\n

Asked whether Angola could have, in the future, a woman as commander-general, the speaker on the topic was peremptory in emphasizing that this reality is very close to happening.<\/p>\n

“From what I see, perhaps a Minister of the Interior”, she said, appearing surprised by the capable tactics and techniques of the female police officer, demonstrated at the opening of the event, on the 26th.<\/p>\n

While presenting the topic to the subgroup of 400 trainees, in tent 1, Nanay Gourgel praised the qualities of women as natural leaders, whether in the police service or in the community.<\/p>\n

However, she argued that it is necessary for women to be more interventionist – and less competitive – having a space for action for their growth.<\/p>\n

Monday, the second day of the event, topics such as “Public Security in Democratic States: New threats and challenges from special forces” and “Security challenges on the Angolan border” were also presented.<\/p>\n

In tent 2, the approach focused on a panel on command and leadership, which included topics such as “Police leadership”, “Physical violence between intimate partners: guilt as a requirement for the application of the sentence”, among others.<\/p>\n

Taking place in person and virtually, at the Santana Andre\u0301 Pitra “Petroff” Police Academy, in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta, the II National Conference on the Training of Police Women brings together more than a thousand participants and guests from the Southern African Development Community (SADC ), with emphasis on Mozambique and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The first conference took place in 2018, in Luanda, with the participation of 1,500 women.<\/p>\n
